Hi,

I'm 34 weeks today and I'm beginning to get what feels like period pains. Its a real dull ache and not all the time. Is it just the usualy stretching of ligments etc? Is this normal?

Any advice appreciated

Thanks

could be beginning of labour..dunno im no expert ive only had 3..hope youre ok.

BrothelSprouts · 05/06/2007 14:42

Probably Braxton Hicks.

FEP · 05/06/2007 16:47

Arggggh don't say that Kittypants. I feel like I'm grinding to a halt at the moment and don't think I could push even if I wanted to. Fingerscrossed it wants to stay put a while longer.

I did think about that Brothelsproats but as I haven't had BH before I wasn't sure what to expect.

Thanks for your help both

Sounds like Braxton Hicks - is your tummy rock solid as it happens?

FEP · 06/06/2007 12:19

Haven't noticed it is. Its more under my bump and it feels like the very dull ache I get just before I'm about to have my period. Not at all what to expect with BH. Good excuse to retire to bed extremely early every night anyway.

I'm having these too FEP (34 weeks) I mentioned them to my midwife but she wasn't terribly concerned. They feel quite different to Braxton Hicks, which is more of a tightening sensation across the bump, these are more like period pains as you say, a low, dull ache under the bump and lower back. They woke me up in the middle of the night last night and thought I was in labour! Mine seem to last for about 10 minutes, and vary in intensity. I am guessing it is either ligaments stretching or some kind of "practice contractions" as they feel similar to the contractions i had early on in labour last time. But I would still mention them to your midwife next time you see her as yours might be more helpful than mine!

(Hi Firsty by the way!)

Thanks Everyone. - Yes Bodkin thats exactly how they feel. I am seeing my midwife next week so if she sheds any light on it I will update you.

Thank you
