Missed pill

Sorry if I'm posting this in the wrong group but not sure where to post.

This is my first time posting but I have been reading all of these threads online and everyone seems so helpful so hopefully someone can shed some light or share their experiences?

I missed my pill number 8&9 and then took 10 and have missed 5 days since. I have been going through a lot and it just hasn't been my priority. I have had unprotected sex with my partner and just want to know how likely it is that I might get pregnant? How soon can I take a test?

I have mentioned the pill numbers because some threads say this matter and others don't.

Any comments/help would be appreciated.

Thank you!

So you've missed 7 pills in total? And you've had no bleeding from missing 5 pills in a row? I would take a test now and then again when you would normally be due for your break if you still don't have a period. My cousin fell pregnant when taking the pill at messy times so you do need to take it consistently for it to remain active.

BabyGx · 24/08/2018 14:56

Thank you. No, no bleeding. If I do bleed, what does that mean? Is it just from missing the pill?

You would be able to take a test about 10-14 days after having had unprotected sex.

Is the morning-after pill an option for you? If you’ve had sex in the last 5 days I’d go for that.

Is this your first month on the pill? If you are taking a standard combination pill then you should take it for 21 days at roughly the same time every day and then have a 7 day break in which you should have what is called a breakthrough bleed which is basically a period and letting you know that you are not pregnant. Usually once you are on your break, you bleed after a few days due to the dip in hormones.
If this is your first month on the pill, you are supposed to use other contraception for the first week (unless you started it on the first day of your last period) as it can take a while to build up in your system.

My friend (who's a gp) told me once that miss 1 pill and you're fine but 2 or more and you're playing with fire. Best to take a test whether you bleed or not (the bleed may be a withdrawal bleed and although unlikely you may still be pregnant)

BabyGx · 24/08/2018 15:32

Thank you. I guess I will have to wait until the week where I would normally bleed and then take the test?

That's what I do, this happened to me a few months ago (and I actually asked for advise on here) and it was negative. I always get af three days after my last pill and when it didn't arrive I tested (it arrived an hour after doing the test! Haha!)

BabyGx · 24/08/2018 16:34

Typical lol! I've been on the pill for years and never missed before. Maybe I'm hoping I am?

You sound just like me! On the pill for 14 years but think I was part hoping! Haha

emvy · 24/08/2018 16:43

I second the poster who said to test 10-14 days after you had unprotected sex. And then again when your breakthrough bleed would usually be if it’s negative.

I would wait to have anymore unprotected sex now until your next bleed/a positive pregnancy test. Use a condom and check advice from the pill packet instructions on whether to continue taking the pill or not in these circumstances.

Winegal · 24/08/2018 17:47

Ooh I forgot to say op, if you haven't seen period before your next packet starts, don't start it. Go to the GP. I called nhs direct when it happened to me and got a call back from a dr who told me that.

BabyGx · 24/08/2018 18:23

Thank you all so much. Enjoy the long weekend

That's really helpful to know about not starting the next packet x

So I went to the pharmacy and they said the most important days are day 9-19 in the pack, the majority of the ones that I've missed. The waiting to take a test seems like it will never end.

I had been on the pill for 14 years taking it religiously but back in Feb/March I accidentally let myself run out, I get a years supply at a time so it’s easily done. Been with my DH 10 years so have always not used a condom since I had always been on the pill. Unprotected Sex after no pill for two days and here I am now 22 weeks pregnant 😂

BabyGx · 27/08/2018 11:10

There's no telling what our bodies will do I guess? Thank you for sharing your story. Congratulations!

Test come back not pregnant. 3/4 days until my period is due. Getting lots of creamy/light brown (sorry for too much information). Any ideas?

BabyGx · 29/08/2018 17:21

Sorry, mean discharge.

Did you take an early detection test?

I would wait a few days (at least until period is due) and then test again x
