31 weeks, bump measuring small

I am 31+2 and I have just had a midwife's appointment.

She mentioned that I was measuring at 30cm and normally it's fine to measure 2cms either larger or smaller for the week you're supposed to be so really I could measure 29 or 33cm and it shouldn't be cause for concern, however she commented that I was particularly 'neat' which is something I hear all the time, so she wanted to see me again in 2 weeks instead of 4 just to keep an eye on it.

Is this something to be concerned about? Has anyone else had a similar experience? She also commented that my blood pressure was a little low 'for me' not overall, just compared to what I normally am, which is usually a healthy blood pressure. It was 177 over 54 today.

She didn't go into more detail and I am sort of kicking myself for not asking more questions.

I'm still feeling the baby move plenty and know that it that changes I should see someone right away but I am just very concerned right now. I am also on Iron tablets as I am slightly anemic.

Nope, generally nothing to worry about at all. I have the opposite problem and have always measured at least 2 weeks ahead during all of my pregnancies but usually 3-4 weeks ahead. I’ve been referred to growth scans that confirm the baby is slightly bigger than average but they don’t do anything about that because they obviously can’t... Worst that will happen is you also get referred to a growth scan, not the end of the world.

My midwife commented last Thurs that I was measuring ‘too small’ at 31 weeks. Booked me in for a growth scan the following Monday and I was told ‘absolutely fine and measuring perfectly’. If she was worried I think you’d have been booked in for a growth scan, it is upsetting to hear but please don’t over think it too much xx

I started measuring behind around the same time as you and ended up having numerous growth scans. By the end I was measuring 5cm behind and had a very neat bump. DS came out on his due date bang on the 50th centile :) If she is worried she will arrange a growth scan for you.

I was constantly being told what a small/neat/tiny bump I had with my first - I used to find it so infuriating. I measured about 2cm behind the whole way through.

I did get sent for a growth scan around 36 weeks when there had apparently been no change in my bump size from the appointment before - total nonsense, I could tell I was bigger but DD had shifted position, plus I never had the same midwife measure me twice. All was absolutely fine, and DD born at 50th centile at 40+5.

I had a very small bump, to the point the day before I was being induced I was buying onesies at Mothercare and the shop assistant asked if I needed a gift receipt as she couldn't tell I was pregnant and the onesies were for me!

I never measured beyond 32/33cm at term and was induced at 38 weeks after a growth scan at 36 week showed baby was very skinny. Had a small but perfectly healthy DD at 5lb 8oz. She's now a gigantic chunky chubby baby tracking the 80th percentile!!
