29wks and signed off sick for 4wks, can my employer make me start my mat leave early?

I'm signed off with a viral infection (but I'm actually exhausted and really struggling generally and have been for the entire pregnancy to be honest.) I don't want to start my mat leave early, but if I send my sick note in, can they make me? Or would they speak to me about it first? Any advice appreciated! TIA x

they can only make you start early is you are off sick in the last 4 weeks of your pregnancy

You would need to be off with a pregnancy related illness from week 36 before they could make to start your mat leave
