Maternity bras for smaller boobs

Hi, I'm currently 31 weeks pregnant and have had a constant sharp pain around my left ribs for the past few weeks and have now decided maybe getting measured for a maternity bra might help. I've been wearing the stretchy soft cotton/bandeau bras so far but they haven't seemed to help. I'm just wondering if it's going to be worth buying one as I am not planning on breast feeding and I only have size 34b boobs which haven't really grown since being pregnant. Also is mothercare the best place to go?
Tia 😊

Are you certain that the pain is from your underwear?

If you’re already wearing soft cotton bras and you haven’t changed size then I doubt a maternity bra would help, they’re generally just soft cotton bras but with clips for nursing.
Doesn’t sound like the bra is the issue.

I had this pain and it was his feet ramming up into my rib cage and pressing on a nerve.

However, comfy bras are one less annoyance in the general discomfort of the 3rd trimester! I had one like this from Debenhams and it was great - better than my maternity ones as they tend to be huge so rubbed under my arms.

I have small boobs also and I bought a few soft bras from asda. one was like a crop top and didn't have clips and then had two that did have clips but were soft but padded so have support. I didn't breast feed either as sadly didn't work out for me, but when your milk starts to come in and then dry up you will need a nice comfy but tight bra as your boobs will be very sore and painful! I wore a bra day and night for a few weeks

Same boob size as you! I'm currently pregnant with baby number 2.

I had this problem exactly when pregnant the first time, yes it was my bras! I was wearing underwire and they were digging in leaving my ribs in agony at the end of the day!

A maternity bra isn't essential though. If your not breastfeeding, I went for cheep primark bras that didn't have wires in and there sports bras. They helped 100% Smile

I have two of these and they are excellent.

ASOS

They have a lovely wide band so don't dig in.

Not even essential if you do decide to breastfeed. I’ve got some but in the end tend to just wear nonwired comfy ones and pull the cup down. All my maternity bras stick out of my tops unless they’ve a high neck and don’t have deep armholes.

I really like the soft Emma Jane ones. Both the next generation ones and the sleep ones.
