Hi all,

Sorry if this isn't the right place to post it. My best friend had her baby on Tuesday (Yay!!!) and I'm visiting next weekend. I've got something for the little cherub but actually wanted to put together a little something for the new mum and dad. Nothing overly expensive but just to show I'm thinking of them. I know she's had heaps of smelliest previously so any ideas are extremely welcome. Thank you x

Food. Preferably stuff that can be eaten 1 handed.

I'm another vote for food! Or nice drinks :-)

It is really nice of you to want to get a thoughtful gift :-)

Yep lunch. Include things she couldn't eat when pregnant and a couple of beers for dad (They feel left out). I took pate and brie with French bread round to my friend and she almost cried she was so happy. Make your own cuppa when you go too.

Definite yes to the one handed food!!

My auntie, when DS1 was born, cooked for a month and brought it down weekly in microwaveable containers. To this day it is the best and most thoughtful gift I’ve ever had.

Obviously a month is a bit much, but could you do something like that?

Another vote for food! We had a couple people buy us some ready meals from m and s and those dine in deals they do and honestly they were better than all the baby outfits we had been given!x

ThatFridayFeeling · 23/08/2018 16:51

Food! Definitely!! Even something they can put in the oven for dinner - every little helps!

Another vote for food here. Things tbat you know she and her husband like plus things that she's had to avoid during pregnancy and can now eat again.

When we had our second, a friend came round with a box of tortellini, a jar of pasta sauce and a cheesecake - dinner sorted, it was fab. She also made me a lot of cups of tea while she was here, she didn’t ask if it was ok, she just asked if I wanted tea and put the kettle on. Best visitor ever.
