I buy as and when I see something I want/a good deal on something!

I'm 20 weeks pregnant with DC4 and have about half of what I needed to buy, I'm keeping a look out for a second hand Snuzpod now!

Not until the month before the birth. Even then it was just pram and car seat, crib bedding (crib itself was a family heirloom), and essentials for hospital. We got the bare minimum, and as we didn't want to find out the sex until the birth we knew we would be getting more then.

Also I'm very superstitious and wouldn't have anything in the house until the baby was born and all was well. I hate the idea of having things set up beforehand. The big stuff stayed at my mums. All we had was what we needed for hospital. (And it's a good thing we didn't have everything at home, our baby was not well and spent 12 days in hospital. Carrying an empty car seat home and walking in seeing the space for the things was hard enough, if they'd been there it would have been 10 times harder).

This is my 4th dc and i only started to buy things at 34 weeks. Partly because i dont have room to be hoarding loads of baby stuff in boxes. And partly because i don't know the sex so didn't want to buy too many neutral baby clothes.

OutPinked · 24/08/2018 06:12

I started buying bits and bats after the first scan at 14 weeks. Only small items of clothing at first, the odd reusable nappy. We only started with the bigger items after the 20 week scan.

Stephisaur · 24/08/2018 08:15

After the 12 week scan for us (first baby)

Just wanted to check there was a baby in there!

We've bought some clothes and the pram so far, still need to get the cot.

myotherbagisgucci · 24/08/2018 08:17

After 20 weeks with DC1, and I don't actually think I need anything other than a cot for DC2.

When I was about 28 weeks

We got a pram at about 14 weeks but only because we needed a single into a double and saw an unbeatable priced second hand one! We've held off on most things until we know the sex though as still have a lot if it's a girl as we got a lot for my stepdaughter which we haven't got rid of! I am picking up nappies, wipes, breast pads etc when I do the shopping. Just a pack of 2 each time. I did it with my first and found it so helpful having a stash of essentials!! Didn't need to worry about running out of the essentials for about 6 months! Just buy a variety of sizes and brands!

*pack or 2

greendale17 · 24/08/2018 09:23

After the 20 week scan. I wanted to be organised

usernotfound0000 · 24/08/2018 09:27

I was super organised with DC1, most things bought just after 20 week scan and nursery all set up by 30 weeks. This time, time just seems to have slipped away and I'm 29 weeks and all I have is a crib and some stuff from Aldi's baby event! I must make a list!!

MonkeyToucher · 24/08/2018 09:57

DC2 for me too, and don’t think I need anything really! What do you need to buy? I still have a car seat/snuz pod/buggy from DS1. Just had my 12 week scan so might buy a few clothes bits but most of the stuff I have from DS was neutral as we didn’t find out the sex last time...

butlerswharf · 24/08/2018 10:08

I start after 20 weeks. My biggest recommendation is a Sleepyhead. Magic sleep things!

Stroller15 · 24/08/2018 10:14

37 weeks and just buying car seat today! Feels very disorganised with this baby, with my 1st I started researching and buying things after 12 week scan.

wimbler · 24/08/2018 10:14

I'm almost 23 weeks and so far I've bought one sleepsuit that I bought after the 20w scan. I am desperate to start buying stuff but we are hoping to move house soon out of our 1 bed flat where we have no space to store anything!

We have a John Lewis nursery appointment next weekend so we will be clearer on what we actually want in terms of buggy etc and my in-laws have said they'll buy us the Snuzpod which is lovely of them. My mum is desperate to go shopping with me so I don't suspect it will be long before we start buying things - might just have to use their house as storage!

Patienceofatoddler · 24/08/2018 10:19

This is my third...

Im nearly 20w and I'm not planning on buying anything bar some newborn nappies nearer the time BlushBlush

I will treat myself to some nice breastfeeding friendly clothes and comfy bras once little one is here.

Might get a new stretchy wrap as will be easier than using my woven for the first few weeks but that's it really.

I have sold so much I had with the previous two as just don't need it and don't want the clutter. So really is a minimalist approach Blush

hamburgers · 24/08/2018 10:22

1st DC around 34 weeks. No point in buying stuff earlier collecting dust Confused

Pregnant with No.2 and need a lot less so probably get some baby grows, bottles, and double pram at 36 weeks.

Rarfy · 24/08/2018 10:29

Just put deposit down on pram today but that is from a local independent shop which refunds you should you not need it (first baby was stillborn). 17+3. Tbh it's a lovely big step for us as i never felt confident buying big things for our son and it was something i still regret now because for me that is one of the exciting, pleasurable experiences of being pregnant.

This time we dont have much choice really. Baby will be born just after christmas and we're hardly rolling in it so need to spread the big purchases out.

RiskIt4Biscuit · 24/08/2018 11:38

We haven't bought anything yet, but I have ordered the pram a few weeks ago (which should be built next week). I'm 20+2 today.
I was told that it can take 16 weeks for it to be built and delivered (although stores tend to have some in stock), so I didn't want to wait too long.

I'll be picking it up from the store in two weeks when going back to Denmark.

I would prefer not having it at home as I'm due in January, but because I'm getting a pram that is not sold in the UK, I'll have to do it like this (or have it shipped here, which is quite expensive).
Thankfully the store has a 365 day return and refund policy, so if something goes wrong and we don't get to use the pram, I can take it back and get the money back.

When picking up the pram, I will get accessories for the pram - a Voksi baby wrap, adaptors for the car seat so it can be used on the pram frame, baby duvet and bedding.
