Problem is, there’s no way of getting tested for herpes unless you have active sores. The NHS don’t offer a blood test. If you have any painful blisters of course you should get tested but most people with herpes don’t have symptoms so it’s impossible to know.

Also worth noting that unless the first outbreak happens around the time you deliver, herpes WON’T kill your baby. Just in case anyone has it and is now worried it’s going to kill their baby, it won’t. They will become immune in utero and anyone who knows they have GH will take antivirals leading up to the birth to prevent an outbreak.

Outpinked - I was reading the point of the article to be that she wanted blood tests to be given but you are probably right that unless it is the first outbreak there is such a limited risk it wouldn't really be any help.
