20 week scan and extra heart scan tomorrow

Feeling really nervous, and worried if everything will be ok.

We are having 2 scans as although I came back as low risk after the 12 week scan the nuchal fold was borderline, which they say could also indicate a problem with the heart, so that’s why they have booked us for two scans. I am so nervous and anxious about it all. 12 week scan wasn’t a great experience our appt was 2.30pm and we left the hospital at 7pm, due to delays but also baby not in right position, then they put us in a side room for a midwife to talk to us about the nuchal fold, which then upset me. So just thinking the worse for tomorrow’s experience too.

Anyone else had to have an extra heart scan at all? X

Yes I did. We had to travel up the fetal cardiologist in London the day after the 20 week scan. It was all a bit of a panic and rush so at least you won't have to deal with that and get it all done at once.

My baby has right aortic arch which will need surgery when he is 1.

Best of luck tomorrow, what did your trisomy and Downs tests come back as...?

Thanks, gosh I hope not, it’s all just being done at our local hospital.

Sorry to hear your news but good news it’s something they know about now and baby will be ok. That’s all I want to know is that my baby is ok.

Downs came back as 1/805 and trisomy 1/2080 x

How did the scan go @Firsttimemum1829 ?

Firsttimemum1829 · 24/08/2018 05:48

Thanks thanks for asking @WhatAnAbsolutePenis. Thankfully it all went went, all normal scan first and they were happy that everything looked ok and baby measuring as it should. Then had the heart scan and they checked everything out and they said everything looks fine. Was such a relief. Feels like I can relax a bit now and start to plan and enjoy the next few months. We also found out we are having a baby boy! xx

Congratulations! Back when my DD was on the away, my bloods came back showing increased risk of Downs Syndrome. I had a midwife turn up at my home on Sunday to tell us, had consultant appointment booked for the following day, had amnio at that appointment then had to wait 5 weeks for the results! So I was 17 weeks when I found out she was ok! We had decided on a termination if it had been a positive result, but at that stage I was massive. Soooo glad of the outcome, but 5 weeks of hell was not good.

Also, when we got the phone call to say our results were in, we had to wait 2 hours in ante natal clinic to see the consultant again, and when we didn't eventually go in, they apologised because they couldn't find my notes so couldn't tell me the result in case there was a mix up. I'd had an appointment at the breast clinic the week earlier and my notes had been shipped over to that department and not returned to ante natal. Another half hour wait in a side room whilst they eventually found the notes.
Then the consultant gave us e good new school by saying congratulations, you have a healthy daughter on the way.
We didn't want to know the sex!!!😂😂😂
