Additional appointment confusion?!

Hi,
I recieved 5 letters in the post today (i’m currently 17 weeks pregnant)
These were all at the hospital at;

  • 18 weeks, need to take a urine sample
  • 28 weeks, scan
  • 32 weeks, scan
  • 36 weeks, scan
  • 39 weeks, scan

There was no additional information as to why i’d have these appointments and i can’t see why i’d be needing all these scans? I have a high bmi which i take prescribed aspirin for, as well as needing a glucose test at 26 weeks but apart from that, a really healthy pregnancy. It says midwife clinic but at the hospital... just generally don’t understand?
Help or guidance would be appreciated as now i’m panicking slightly as it’s not been mentioned to me before - even at my midwife appointment at the health centre last week.

Where I work you'd get growth scans due to a raised BMI...how high is it? The 18 week appt should be with an obstrectian and they should clarify it for you

Look likes your anomaly scan (18-22 weeks is the window) and then growth scans (same intervals as my growth scans). As pp says guessing you are having them due to high BMI and increased risk of gd (which can lead to big babies). You should see a midwife or consultant after the first if it is at a clinic so hopefully they will clarify

Thank you! Should my midwife have explained this at the previous appointment? I was just seriously concerned recieving these letters with no information, especially with it being my first baby

First one is the 18-20 scan which everyone has. The rest are growth scans because of a higher BMI.

Four weekly appointments is pretty standard. Maybe they give you the dates in advance so that you can arrange time off work or change the appointment if you can’t make it?

@Reader1984 i already have my 20 week scan booked as well as the above appointments, i only needed a urine sample for this but it’s still at the hospital so what could this be?

@Darkstar4855 no these are scans, not appointments and though appear to be growth scans like pp has said.
