Early scan question

Today I've been for an early scan (6+3 to my knowledge - which should be fairly accurate as I was using OPKs).

The midwife found baby but said she couldn't find a heartbeat and that baby was only measuring as 3mm. She said that wasn't enough to mean the pregnancy had stopped but that she'd need to see me back next week and if we don't see a heartbeat then, we'd be worried.

Anyone got any advice/similar experiences? In need of some positivity and hand holding please xx

I had a scan at 7 weeks and there was no heartbeat even then. Went back at 8 weeks and there was a little heartbeat there. I don't want to give you false hope as you can never know, but it's possible the dates are wrong, and you're not as far along as you think. Fingers crossed for you OP Thanks

@OrangeOrlaith I've came home and done a test and it's still strong and I've had worse morning sickness yesterday and today than ever before so I am holding out hope to be honest! First baby though so I'm no expert.

Really glad to hear your news, thank you very much for sharing xxx

I had a scan yesterday at 6+5 to my dates, she did an abdominal scan instead of vaginally and we seen the heartbeat, however she said that it was measuring small so would only put me at about 5 weeks.... however I didn't think you'd see anything abdominally at 5 weeks never mind a heartbeat....early scans aren't the most reliable as a few days can make a big difference, fingers crossed for you for next week x

I had a scan at 9 weeks and they could only just find a heartbeat then. Try not to stress. Distract yourself as much as possible literally force your attention elsewhere! Good luck!

Was is an abdominal or transvaginal? At 6 weeks they couldn't find a heartbeat on abdominal but had a visual of heartbeat on transvaginal but everyone's different Smile I wouldn't worry at this point x

@Kate123cl it was abdominal, I was only in there about 2 minutes. My appointment was at the end of the day as well so I did feel a bit like they were in a rush.

I'm back next week and if they can't find a heartbeat then I will push for transvaginal.
Thank you xx

@sachabloom I really wouldn't worry then hun. They only found a sac on abdominal for me until transvaginal was performed so stay positive Smile xx

@sachabloom it’s easier said than done but I wouldn’t worry too much. I went for an early scan last week. Going on dates, I thought I should be between 8 + 4 and 6 + 4 she started with abdominal and she said it was small and couldn’t see a heartbeat. I was actually measuring 6 weeks. Then she did a transvaginal and there it was flickering away. She said under 8 weeks you can’t see much through abdominal. Good luck xxx
