I had my second growth scan today as he was measuring big last time. These are my measurements today, how are they looking? He’s 4.5lbs at 31+3 weeks.

Hi i am 32 weeks exactly today and i had another growth scan for our baby boy today as I'm screening positive for IUGR so they have to monitor he doesn't stop growing but he is fine so far and weighed 4lb 13oz today they said. So i think yours is about right too, they said mine is slightly on the bigger side but that's better than being small x

We were told providing they tracked roughly along the same centipede lines then they would be quite happy with that (unfortunately for us our baby stopped growing so was whipped out at 34 weeks).

Looking at baby’s abdominal circumference the only thing I would be slightly concerned about is gestational diabetes as being at the top of the charts sometimes is an indicator of it, have you been tested? As for the estimated weight I wouldn’t worry too much it is notoriously innacurate!

Thetimehascometo · 22/08/2018 01:01

@Anm4 I’d be happy with that! Our 34 weeker was born weighing 4lb 8! 😊

Anm4 · 22/08/2018 02:14

Oh wow @Thetimehascometo how diddy! Our other three DC were 8lb 8, 8lb 4 & 6lb 11.. i thought my 6lb 11 DD was tiny! Hope your child was born healthy & happy. I feel like this baby is quite big from movements so I'm hoping they keep him in as long as he can but know they will do what's best at the moment 😊

Thetimehascometo · 22/08/2018 09:06

@Anm4 the only major issue we had was jaundice. Which wasn’t aided by incompetent community midwives 🙈 she is all good now and a happy healthy 12 week old... just starting to go into newborn clothes 😂

Aw bless her well congrats 😊. Was it growth restriction from the arterys if you don't mind me asking? I have raised uterine arteries which can restrict the blood flow they are having to monitor x

Thetimehascometo · 22/08/2018 22:28

@Anm4 I had a raised PI, I believe pressure within the arteries in the umbilical cord combined with reduced fetal movements and then the baby’s growth slowed, so with all of these factors it was decided to induce at 34 weeks, that failed miserably (baby got very distressed) so emergency c section it was!

Best of luck, I know it’s scary, but I assume you’ve had the steroid injections? We were told initially to aim to get to 32 weeks, then that got shifted to 34 when we made it to 32 weeks, so You’re in a good position having made it to 32 😊

Anm4 · 22/08/2018 22:39

@Thetimehascometo no haven't had the steroids just extra scans, they've said that the left and right uterine PI artery are both raised, at my scan yesterday i was just told to monitor at least 10 movements a day and if i don't, to go for a scan to check there is still a heartbeat which was quite upsetting but they did say the umbilical flow is still low which is good so i assume that's why although the other two are raised 🤔. I have consultant next week to discuss induction from 37 weeks, I'm just hoping i can get to that stage safely now as i don't have another scan until 36 weeks either x

Thetimehascometo · 22/08/2018 22:53

@Anm4 I would maybe ask about the steroid injections at your next consultants appointment.

I know how scary it can be, I ended up in hospital for a week at 31-32 weeks, and landed in delivery due to the baby’s heartbeat plummeting whilst on the ctg. They didn’t deliver though, and kept me in for a few more days then had me back in for daily monitoring for the next week, the consultant I saw at the end of that week was happy to not see me for another few weeks after that unless I went in with further reduced movements, fast forward 3 days and I had a prebooked appointment with another Consultant after another growth and Doppler scan. I went straight from that appointment to delivery! Although the hospital was brilliant, I do think if we were not so persistent we could’ve had a very different story on our hands. As it is our 34 weeker is now 12 weeks old and had a weigh in today and is 8lb 15oz! Still relatively tiny, but absolutely perfect.

@Thetimehascometo thankyou for your advice i will mention it to her next week.

I just want what's best for baby but i think i need to be a bit more persistent in regards to a plan as I've just kinda accepted what they've said so far but it was alarming when they said that as they initially didn't seem that bothered at 20 weeks.

I'm so pleased you had a positive outcome in the end and your little girl is thriving even if she is still diddy, the best things come in small packages! 😊
