Is it possible to feel movement very early?

I am 10 weeks pregnant with what I’m hoping will be DC2. And I know it’s meant to be too early to feel movement. And yet I swear I can!

It feels exactly like the earliest movements I felt with DC1 - not kicks - that tiny fluttery flopping feeling really low down. It's a really distinct feeling and it's not like any wind I've ever felt. If I wasn’t so sure of my dates I’d assume I was further ahead than I thought, I’m that sure it’s movement.

But ten weeks! It CAN’T be. Can it? Am I going mad? It was early with DC1 (14 weeks and the midwife looked at me like Hmm, but the same feeling got stronger and stronger and by 15/16 weeks it was unmistakeable), but this early?

I felt my second early, but can’t remember how early. I can’t see why not though. It’s still tiny, but not ‘grain of rice’ tiny.
Mine started by feeling like little bubbles popping. It was a very active pregnancy all the way through - the magic sadly wore off and it became quite painful and exhausting by the end.

I felt DC2 much earlier than I'd previously felt DC1. I think you 'recognise' what you're feeling more easily, iyswim...

Maybe there is more than one in there!

I felt DC2 at 14 weeks. Just like you’re describing. Makes me want another to feel it again. Damn these hormones and biology!!

I felt DC2 very early too, before the 12 week scan. I mentioned it to the sonographer expecting to be laughed at but she said that before she had her kids she would have said it was impossible, then felt movement that early herself so now believes it. I think you feel the second earlier as you know what to look for. However, I then had a long break with nothing really felt for a few weeks which made me nervous but it would have just been baby's position.

I can’t remember when flutters happened with DS1 but I know he gave a very unmistakable hard kick at 17 weeks that I could even feel from the outside because of the fact I had my hands across me with my legs crossed leaning forward (my awkward body language staying with relatives I had never met!) Only mention it as that was quite early for that sort of kicking.

With DS2 I’d felt flutters I was sure was him before my “12 week scan which was at 11 weeks. I felt the feeling again during the scan and looked at the monitor to see him moving around so I’m confident that’s what I was feeling and I would have been a similar stage to you so I’d say yes you’re right Smile

Yes. Absolutely yes. I felt the same flutters with DC2 from about this point and the midwives all told me it was way too early but our bodies know, don't they? They've felt it all before. They know how to recognise the movements. Some people are alot more in tune to their bodies than others and it's unfair to tell us we're wrong.

I was told I was being ridiculous and baby wasn't even kicking yet, but my point is that they're not kicks, they're flutters. It could just be the increased movement around that area, or pressure on nerves, but it's definite movement.

Don't let anyone tell you otherwise; if you feel your baby in there, I'm happy for you!

I'm 10+3 with my second, and yesterday I felt one single thud - big enough to make me jump and stop what I was doing. It can't have been the baby, but I have no idea what it was!
I do also get sensations that make me realise something is going on down there... not sure I'd call it movement but I daresay it could be.

Update after dating scan: one baby looking very energetic. And I felt movement at the same time as it started bouncing around like crazy on the screen, so it seems that yes you can indeed feel movements this early on!

I literally saw kicks on the outside of my stomach at 12 weeks with dc2. Dh felt them too. It wasn’t muscle spasms. So yes absolutely possible.
