Hi
I know swollen feet & ankles are part of being pregnant but how big is too big?
Mine have been swollen permanently for about 6 weeks now & just go between big to massive.
Tonight they feel like they might pop they are that big.
Surprised I don't have stretch marks on them they are that big.
At my last midwife appointment I mentioned my concern & she didn't even look at them just said it's normal.
Is there a point where I should worry or am I worrying over nothing?
I try to get a mix of sitting & walking during the day. I also raise them once Home from wok. Any other suggestions to help?
I want my old feet back.........

I feel your pain @Anjied- I'm in flip flops because nothing else fits my feet. My feet have risen like a loaf of bread and there's no containing them. Have mentioned this to the midwives I've seen but other than a cursory glance, they've not really been too bothered.

Mine got to the point where I couldn't see my ankles. Hubby used to draw out the water by rubbing (vigorously) upwards in the evening. Then you can also do that along the legs to encourage the lymphatic system to absorb the fluid. It did help somewhat.

When I developed pre eclampsia my feet swelled so much that from the morning when I was able to put my crocs on to the evening I was unable to get my feet in them.

OP I'm 22 weeks and been suffering.
I'm wondering how bad will it be by the time I'm 38 weeks?!

HappyBumbleBee · 20/08/2018 23:28

You have to be careful as swelling can be a sign of pre eclampsia - sleep with your feet raised up - preferably on 2 pillows. If they don't go down by morning ring gp or midwife etc.
I think if they go down then it's fine and if they don't then they will check you over etc.
They may advise you stop working now and rest with feet up.
Don't take any chances and good luck with the rest of your pregnancy xxx

I had pre eclampsia and my legs swelled so much I couldn’t bend them, nor fit in my bar stool which had been fine up until that point. They rather attractively sprung leaks as well! I’d call triage to be on the safe side, they might want you to go in, so bring your hospital bag! I was 36 weeks and didn’t bother to bring mine, (hadn’t finished completely packing it yet) and dh had to run around doing it for me.

Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy 💐
