Hello.

Excuse my post in your group. My Fiancée thinks she's pregnant, we both do. Problem is no one else does.

Since May we've suspected. Tonnes of negative dip tests and one blood test - all negative. Blood showed

I'd just pay for a private ultrasound at this point. It would be completely clear whether she is or not by that.

Stephisaur · 20/08/2018 19:44

I agree that a private ultrasound is the way to go.

By your reckoning, she’s about 12 weeks so a baby will be visible if present.

HOWEVER, please prepare yourselves for the fact that it might not show what you want it to.

GreenMeerkat · 20/08/2018 19:46

You say she was on the pill. How long has she been off it?

Reuben1976 · 20/08/2018 19:48

Hi sorry. Not used to this forum. She's been off the pill for a week. Due to have a period today. Only light spotting. I've already booked her in for a private scan tomorrow as we're getting nowhere via the GP's and midwives.

Thanks.

If there’s a blood test with a hog that low, she isn’t pregnant.

Does she want to be pregnant? There’s a condition where the body can “act” pregnant when it isn’t.

PurpleDaisies · 20/08/2018 19:53

What did she go to a and e with? I’m a bit unclear on what happened there

Reuben1976 · 20/08/2018 20:03

@Stephisaur Thanks. Yes she's going with a friend as I can't get time off that short notice.

We've discussed all the outcomes and potential consequences. Whatever happens I just want to know she's safe Smile

GreenMeerkat · 20/08/2018 20:09

How long is she had the symptoms?

I think once you find out for sure at a private scan, if it confirms she isn't pregnant she should return to her GP as those symptoms need further investigation.

Reuben1976 · 20/08/2018 20:15

@GreenMeerkat Thanks. Basically since Middle of May. She didn't tell me at first although I'd noticed her boobs had got bigger. She always had headaches etc. So we started doing dip tests which were all negative.

Yes - whatever happens I'm making sure she goes back to her GP as she's not well and if it's not a pregnancy, it's something else as her body has changed and she's got all these physical symptoms.

Thanks Smile

I’m glad you’re both going in with your eyes open.

I got some of the same symptoms as your wife when I was on the pill. Had been on it years and they suddenly appeared!

Good luck for tomorrow :)

ChaseMe · 20/08/2018 20:33

It could be a phantom pregnancy? Uncommon but they do happen

ragingmama84 · 20/08/2018 20:39

This is a big issue with contraceptives they and pregnancy often share the same symptoms so it's really hard to distinguish. I had the depo shot and didn't realise I was already pregnant and because depo literally mimicked all the pregnancy symptoms and they warn you about it I just assumed it was that, little did I know I was about 12 weeks pregnant, once I took a test it proved it. There's something I feel like I should warn you of. Recently I found out I was pregnant, didn't think so for ages, then we took a test all good got all the symptoms and very strongly and didn't realise at 7 weeks the baby had died, I thought it must be a mistake as I still had all the symptoms but my hcg levels were rapidly decreasing so I wonder if maybe she was pregnant and maybe had a missed miscarriage (again not something I really want to say to you, however I would have felt better had I been warned) and her body still feels like she's pregnant but by the time you tested her hcg levels have already gone down, some women lose their hcg levels go down instantly some take time. I hope I'm wrong but just in case

Reuben1976 · 20/08/2018 21:42

@Stephisaur Thanks. We'll know for sure by tomorrow teatime. I'll post an update

@ragingmama84 Thanks for sharing. Yes we've discussed all the possibilities Smile

My cousin had this. Was certain she was pregnant, all Drs etc said she wasn't. Eventually she went to the hospital with her MiL because she was a nurse and thought something was up. Ended up being 8 months pregnant. She'd had negative tests etc but still felt pregnant.

But the scan will clear things up for you.

PurpleDaisies · 20/08/2018 22:07

What was it that made her go to A and E? If it was something like pain or bleeding, it’s surprising that they didn’t scan her when they did the blood test.

I hope you get answers. With that hcg level (unless she’s conceived since), it’s not going to be a 12 week pregnancy.

Flossy04 · 21/08/2018 02:35

Hope everything goes ok tomorrow

myotherbagisgucci · 21/08/2018 12:20

Did you find out if your fiancée is pregnant?

Karigan198 · 21/08/2018 12:24

Stop faffing around with bloods and just order a private scan. Between 60 to 100 cost and you’ll know there and then.

Get an internal scan as external will not show up the younger embryos just in case

PurpleFlower1983 · 21/08/2018 12:25

Hope it goes ok today and you have an answer one way or another!

myotherbagisgucci · 21/08/2018 12:26

@Karigan198 they are having a private scan, as per previous posts!

Reuben1976 · 21/08/2018 12:28

@Flossy04 Thanks! Few hours we'll know one way or the other

@myotherbagisgucci Hi - No. Private scan at 5pm today.

@Karigan198 I booked the scan yesterday before the GP messed us about and before I posted. Believe me I'm not faffing about with anything. My fiancée is the most important person in my world..

SparklyMagpie · 21/08/2018 12:28

Hope everything goes well today OP

Atleast either way you'll both know and can take it from there

ragingmama84 · 21/08/2018 15:28

Good luck today

Reuben1976 · 21/08/2018 15:41

@SparklyMagpie Thanks - Scan is 1645 today. At this stage I'd settle for her to be safe and well. She has history of this as she tested negative at 5 weeks with her first only to test positive 3 weeks later at 8 weeks and would go on to have a healthy boy who's now 4.

@ragingmama84 - Fingers crossed. She's bled a little so just want her to be okay above anything else.

SparklyMagpie · 21/08/2018 15:44

You sound like such a caring partner. Keeping fingers crossed that regardless of the outcome,She is and will be well x
