Unclear Internal Scan

I should be 9 weeks +5 days. I've been passing blood and discharge since Thursday (4 days ago), as well as cramping. I went to my GP who referred me onto the Early Pregnancy Unit and they completed an internal scan today. They didn't know what the conclusion was because in the sack there was something there but still too unclear to see because there was "blobs" as they described it. They completed blood tests and said they are still unaware what the problem is; so I've got to have further blood tests next week. I really just want to know whether I can carry on being excited for my first pregnancy or should I be heartbroken whether its a miscarriage/ectopic/molar pregnancy etc (They explained all to me). Has this happened to anyone else at all?
I've got to monitor the bleeding, but waiting another week to find out is frustrating Confused

Did they tell you what these blobs could possibly be? So they are saying they could see a sac and something in it but they don’t know what’s in it? At 9 weeks 5 days you should be able to see a baby- is there a chance you have got your dates wrong and it is possibly a couple
Of weeks earlier? They will have done your bloods to see what your HCG levels are - are you able to phone in a couple of days for the results of these? As this may give you some idea? Failing that can you book a private scan? I know all too well
How horrendous an uncertain wait is- sending you lots of love x

Ps- if it was ectopic it would be in the tube- I am assuming that the sac was in the right place else they would have definitely said. Xxx

They couldn't tell me what the blobs in the sack were unfortunately, she even got the Senior in to have a look; that's why having a blood test got recommended. She did call me back regarding this and they couldn't conclude what my blood test meant.
She seemed very negative because she kept saying "I'm so sorry" to me and my partner so all I'm thinking of is the worst, but I am also thinking maybe I am actually earlier then suggested. I would also be on my period currently so the cramping I experienced was normal time of the month pains.
A private scan is something I'm looking to do to give me a peace of mind. Smile

At 9 weeks a baby should be pretty clearly visible, I’ve had scans at 7 weeks and 8 weeks in previous pregnancies and the baby could be seen. Is there any chance your dates could be out?
Sorry to hear you’re going through this.

eurochick · 20/08/2018 19:22

I'd expect a miscarriage, unfortunately. As a pp said by 9 weeks the foetus should be clearly visible.

Gobletoffire · 20/08/2018 19:26

Sorry to hear you’re going through this, OP. Unless your dates are wrong then it sounds like a miscarriage as the baby would be very visible by that time. Has the bleeding been heavy or more like spotting? Personally I wouldn’t pay to have a private scan, persevere with your GP and hospital to make sure it’s looked into thoroughly and get another scan through them if need be xx

Thanks for your reply. Possibly, I'm just going by what my midwife have said, she's even booked my 12 week scan for the 06/09. Lady at scan today did say possibly the feotus maybe too small to see but you'd definatley see something if I am actually 9 weeks 5 days. So I'm assuming i have had a miscarriage, just wish they could give me a definite answer x

I agree with a pp- keep going with them until you get the answers you need as this must be utterly horrendous for you :-( they can redo your bloods within 48 hours to see if your hcg levels have dropped x

When did you get a positive pregnancy test? You can work out the earliest you possibly are by counting back to this and adding 2 weeks. I’ve had scans at 6 and 7 weeks showing a heartbeat so by over 9 weeks they should have been able to see something.

Alfiecloud · 20/08/2018 19:57

I had the positive tests a month ago today to be exact. The lady said she can see something in the sac but don't know what as it's unclear. I'm expecting the worst

So you could actually only be 6 weeks pregnant if you ovulated late in your cycle.
