Hey MumsNet,

Hope you lovely ladies might have some ideas and cures for me....

I've always been so lucky and have never been an overly spotty person apart from the odd spot or two when AF was due... but since finding out that I was pregnant my skin has turned horrid!!

I've got red angry looking spots all over my shoulders, chest and face.... It's so bad that a swear my nephew could play 'Dot to Dot' on me 😭 It's starting to depress me as it doesn't seem to be improving and I'm even finding myself shying away from my usual black vest tops or anything with my arms and chest on show... 😩

Do any of you know anything that might help or have experienced similar? It looked so bad to begin with that I thought it might be some kind of rash or something 🤷🏻‍♀️ But they have definitely started to turn into little whiteheads in places!

Many thanks in advance 🙂

I’m having the same problem. It started at around 8 weeks and I’m currently 26 weeks and it hasn’t eased up. My forehead is awful. If you find a solution, please let me know!

The only thing that helps me (and mine doesn't sound as bad as yours) is daily washing with water and a thin layer of sudocream before bed.
Any fancy lotions or potions just make it worse. This routine just about keeps it under control.

I also have bad pregnancy acne across my chest and shoulders, it sucks! I'm currently 12 weeks, hoping it might get better in the second trimester...?

thethoughtfox · 20/08/2018 18:52

I had it. It's a thing: pregnancy acne. Mine didn't go away.

OutPinked · 20/08/2018 21:05

I had it all over my face, chest and shoulders during the first trimester. It disappeared by itself as if by a miracle around week 17/18? It’s been clear ever since.

I completely sympathise. I tried every product going and none of it worked Sad.

I love my acne.... Not.
I had it as a teen and into my late teens. Then it got good, then I got pregnant. Like a previous poster said, I used to wash my face and neck with a simple dove soap morning and night (no scrubs, that encourages the production of stuff and then that all gets clogged up) and a little layer of sudocreme before bed. I also never wear makeup, so maybe that helped. But it eventually eased in my first pregnancy.
Not so bad in the current pregnancy, comes in waves but still follow the same routine.
I also swim, and did looooaads in my first preg. I think the chlorine helped with the antibacterial side of things. Made me feel cleaner anyway and then showered at home properly too.

Embrace it I say. It's all toward your little baby and all the joys and horrors of pregnancy only happens once for each child!

Thanks for all the replies ladies, its nice to know I'm not alone with this lovely symptom 😂👏🏻

I'll give the Sudo Cream a try 👌🏻🤔
