Hi

I am 9 weeks pregnant and have my first midwife appointment on 4th September - what questions should I ask my midwife? I always get a blank brain when I am asked if I have questions and not sure what to ask!

Anything which you are worried about or don't understand.

Is it your first pregnancy? I found after my first I didnt really have any questions as such as the system doesn't differ much even when in different trust area.

If you ever have any questions to ask a HCP and have a tendency to forget them, then write them down before hand.

If there's nothing else you feel you need to know, don't worry about asking any questions! You'll find that things will crop up that you'll want to ask about at various points but it's not uncommon to have no questions at such an early stage- I didn't.

Thank you it is my first pregnancy. I’ve done a lot of research and just cannot think of anything to ask at my first appointment but feel like I should be full of questions!

I don't think I asked a single question at the booking appt. The midwife will have almost an hour's worth of questions for you though! So you will cover pretty much everything you need to know at the early stages anyway Smile

No need to ask questions unless you actually have some to ask. You might find some arise during the appointment anyway. It's not a job interview and the midwife isn't going to be bothered if you do/don't have any questions to ask. If you have done your research then you have probably answered most of the usual questions yourself already.
