Is that your only symptom? If so, I'd say it's highly unlikely - you may just be a bit dehydrated and need to drink more water.

However, if you've been experiencing any of the following: excessive thirst, excessive need to wee, extreme tiredness, dizzyness; if you have a family history of diabetes, are overweight, or have had a previous large baby you can be screened by your mw. She can organise blood tests and a glucose tolerance test.

How many weeks are you? Have you ever had glucose in your urine at previous antenatal appointments? Any suspicion that the baby is growing faster than expected?

As always, give your mw a call if you feel unsure. Most importantly, don't panic - if you do have GD it can be well controlled in pregnancy and need not have any adverse outcomes for you or your baby.

maybe you're thirsty, the temperature has gone up a lot in this country this week.

Have some water, and make sure you're not breathing through your mouth.

Wow, thanx Sock Puppet!!

I think i might just be dehydrated as i tend to NOT drink water over the weekend

I do feel thirsty, but this could be due to dehydration, warm temperatures (i shouldn't wear my big woolly cardi in this weather) and the air con at work. I dont have any of the symptons you described, although my grandmother was diabetic and i am overweight.

I haven't had any probs with finding anything in my wee either so all clear there and baby is not growing faster than normal or anything like that.

I will be having a GTT when i'm 23 weeks tho (already arranged by the consultant).

I'm currently 14+6.

I think i am probably just thirsty lol.

Colditz - Your breathing through the mouth comment made me chuckle!

Thanx for your comprehensive and speedy replies!

Im having the test at 27 weeks as I have sugar in my urine. Baby good size so not too worried but for you, if your urine has no sugar in you should relax.

Apparently it's a fairly common thing in pregnancy, due to hormones etc...I've had it since a few months ago,(about 6 mths Pg then) on and off - horrible at night mostly. Not thirsty and drinking didn't help.

It's called something like Xerostoma? Ask your dentist, as it can have a detrimental effect on oral health - your mouth needs to be moist to prevent gum disease etc.

Good luck and I hope it isn't GD
