Baby movement

I’m 17 weeks with my first and haven’t felt baby movement yet. Midwife told me to only start worrying if i haven’t felt anything by 24 weeks but i just can’t help it! I’m petrified of a late miscarriage and every time between scans i think i’ve lost the baby. It probably doesn’t help that i’ve had miscarriages before and problems with this pregnancy but i’m just so scared!
When do you all begin to feel movement? And then the first kick for dad?

19 weeks before it was noticeable as movement, 21 weeks before DH could feel it from outside.

If you have an anterior placenta (at the front of your bump) then it might be a bit longer before you feel anything.

There are loads of previous threads on this topic so plenty of posts to reassure you Smile Personally I only started feeling movement at 21 weeks, but there were no “flutters” it was just straightaway strong kicks that my husband could feel with his hand on my belly.

Thank you

I'm pregnant with my first and first felt a flutter at 18 weeks. My cousin's wife, who is 2 weeks ahead of me, has an anterior placenta and it took her a few weeks longer. I totally understand about worrying in between scans though. As hard as it is you just have to be patient!

17 weeks would be very very early to feel first baby. I felt my DS at 18 but only a couple of kicks and even that is early. It was more like 20/22 weeks when they were properly established.

22 weeks with my first. Around 19 weeks with my second

Oh and first kicks for dad would have been around 26 weeks for first and 22 weeks for second

22 weeks!

I felt mine at about 16 weeks but not proper kicks, more a squirming/rolling feeling

My husband couldn't feel him until about 25/26 weeks though, I think because I have an anterior placenta

It's definitely normal not to feel anything at 17 weeks though (I was shocked to feel anything so early) so try not to worry

First baby, didn’t feel movements until just over 20 weeks! Hang in there, once they start coming it’s so reassuring.
