Not sure if this is the right place to post this, hopefully it is
I had GD during both my pregnancies; the second time round it was harder to manage and I ended up on metformin.
Most recent 6-week post partum gtt results were great: 4.5 fasting and 5.5 two hours post glucose drink. I am aware of my extremely high risk of type 2 diabetes following gestational diabetes though, and am wondering if anyone has any tips or advice re: diet and lifestyle from now on. I really hope to avoid type 2 or stave it off for as long as possible. The diabetes clinic at my hospital just said to 'be healthy' but not sure for example if I should be trying the low carb high fat diet or what.
So as not to drip feed, I'm 42 so an 'older mother' for birth pregnancies. Still ebf dc2 and bf dc1 for 18 months - I know that cam help reduce risk. My bmi is normal - hovers around the 20-21 mark. Recently for a fitbit and try to do 10,000 steps a day and 30 mins moderate activity a day too not always v successful and just drank a frappucino
Thanks in advance! The internet beyond mumsnet had not been very helpful on this beyond 'exercise, lose weight if you're overweight and eat lots of fruit & veg.
Sorry for being so longwinded
