Aldi Nappies?

I'm 34 weeks pregnant and I've seen Aldi are doing a mother and baby sale and are selling packs of 24 newborn nappies for 85p! Question is, is it worth stocking up? How do they compare to pampers and the other brands? That price seems almost too good to be true

I found pampers really crap. Got full really quick, and seemed really thin and flimsy. I used them for the first 6 weeks, then tried the Asda ones, which are also thin. I use the Aldi ones now and I think they are great. Thick, durable, and hold a great amount! Lol

molifly · 17/08/2018 19:06

Aldi are by far my favourites however don't stock up too much. You don't know how big baby will be. My baby was only in size 1 for a week!

GreenMeerkat · 17/08/2018 19:07

Always used ALDI nappies! They are fab. I've bought two packs of newborn, I wouldn't stock up any more than that as baby will grow out of newborn very fast. Get some size 2 as well

WooYa · 17/08/2018 19:08

They're great! I prefer them to all others (maybe on a par with Tesco) but as PP said don't stock up too much - even though DS is 5months and in size 2HmmGrin

userabcname · 17/08/2018 19:10

They compare very favourably. We use Aldi and have done since birth. We really like them and definitely on par with Pampers (which we do sometimes buy purely because our closest Aldi is quite far away!). DS now 14mo and still wearing Aldi nappies.

hesbeeneatingapotato · 17/08/2018 19:11

In my experience, pampers are bloody awful, they just feel damp to me as soon as DS goes. Sainsbury's aren't great either. The Ocado own ones are bloody awful, as are those expensive mum and you or whatever they're called nappies Grin

Everything else seems to be fab! I wouldn't go too bananas buying newborn nappies though - no idea what size you'll need.

Wait4nothing · 17/08/2018 19:16

Id buy x2 size 1, 2 and 3 if you have space. We had to buy pampers size zero for the first week - more for his belly button stump - then size 1 for the next week or so.
Do stock up on their muslins though - nice size and wash well - but cute designs

TheLionQueen1 · 17/08/2018 19:19

Agree with previous posters, Aldi's nappies are brilliant, we've tried pampers and most supermarket chains and found they are the best fit and less leaks then any others!

Magpiefeather · 17/08/2018 19:20

I had heard nothing but rave reviews of Aldi nappies before my baby was born. Turns out they just don’t fit her very well! Have tried a few and we like Tesco best, never had a leak and only very rare nappy rash (we’ve been using them for 14 months).

I too hated pampers. They stunk.

I would say get a pack in newborn and one in size 1. Then not much lost if they don’t fit your little one well. I hadn’t realised before dd was born but babies are all different shapes and one nappy will be awful on one baby and great on another.

flamingofridays · 17/08/2018 19:21

We found them great. Pampers leaked every single time.

I do think all babies are different shapes though so you might find they're great too or a different brand is better

InDubiousBattle · 17/08/2018 19:23

Aldi nappies have never suited my two, they brought d's out in a terrible rash and they just don't really fit dd. I am very much in the minority though all of my friends rave about them! At 85p a pack I would definitely stock up. New born get through 10 a day!

olderthanyouthink · 17/08/2018 19:27

How do the aldi ones compare to lidls ones? They are a similar price and Lidl is easier for me to get to.

Elbbob · 17/08/2018 19:28

I got a couple of packs of Aldi nappies before DD was born. Don't stock up too much though as you won't be sure of size until baby is born and also your baby's slin may not agree with them. My DD can only wear Pampers as everything else I have tried - Aldi, Boots, Morrisons - gave her nappy rash. (Oh and the Mum and You ones were fine too... but pricey)
However in terms of fit and containment of pee and poo Aldi ones were just as good as Pampers.

Basically you might need to try a few brands to find the one you like so don't over buy Smile

Elbbob · 17/08/2018 19:29

Slin = skin

meow1989 · 17/08/2018 19:32

We use Aldi when we've been as it's not our nearest shop, otherwise have used Sainsbury's but find they can leak, or Lidl which do the job. Pampers have been fine but can't justify the price! On the other hand, have found Aldi wipes too dry and so use hugging pure.

I grabbed a few bags of size 1 and a couple size 2, DS moved up to 2 at about 4 weeks.

IrregularCommentary · 17/08/2018 19:33

Love Aldi nappies. Agree with not stocking up too much until you're sure on size.

Roomba · 17/08/2018 19:35

I always used them for DS2. They were excellent and the only ones which didn't leak. Also cheap!

dippyeggsandsoldiers · 17/08/2018 19:38

Aldi are my favourites! We found pampers crap

OhHolyJesus · 17/08/2018 19:39

I found Naty nappies and pull ups really good. Expensive but they are biodegradable which is well worth it IMO.

backpain · 17/08/2018 19:40

Aldi are my favourite fool proof nappies so far! Nice and thick and good coverage (dd has a chunky bum)

emmaluggs · 17/08/2018 19:41

I like the papmpers as they have the marker to show how wet which is handy when they only do small wees when first born, as they were so absorbent it was hard to tell if he was actually weeing as they felt so dry. but I was quickly converted to the Aldi ones after the 1st month and would do without the indicator next time!

Starlight345 · 17/08/2018 19:45

I am a childminder so use whatever nappies are sent. I really like Aldi nappies. I have no idea why anyone pays for pampers these days . Shop nappies are great. I would say sometimes it is shape more than absorbency. For newborns you change them before the ever get chance to get full.

Tiptopj · 17/08/2018 19:47

Another one here who thinks aldi are great value and quality. I've never got on that well with pampers as they always leaked. I currently use the nappy pants for my 8 month old which unfortunately aldi don't do in anything less than a size 5- liddle and asda do excellent own versions in sizes 3 and 4 and they're half the price of pampers.

Rosiepicnic · 17/08/2018 19:49

Another vote for aldi. Found pampers leaked a lot. Asda ones were ok but aldi definitely the best by far

EssentialHummus · 17/08/2018 19:57

I love them, and indeed most of Aldi's baby clothes, muslins, apple rice cakes (I know this seems like a world away but in about 8 months you'll be in a world of yoghurt and rice cakes), bibs, in fact most of the stuff at their baby event. Highly recommended!
