Aldi Nappies?

I'm 34 weeks pregnant and I've seen Aldi are doing a mother and baby sale and are selling packs of 24 newborn nappies for 85p! Question is, is it worth stocking up? How do they compare to pampers and the other brands? That price seems almost too good to be true

We love their nappies we started using them from size 2, I'd also recommended their version of water wipes we still use these at 6 months as they are so cheap we'd rather carry on them move to a normal or sensitive.

firsttimemum090 · 17/08/2018 20:21

WHAT IS THE PRICE WITHOUT THE BABY SALE?

laylasmummy1 · 17/08/2018 21:23

another vote for Aldi. I used them with my first and have brought them again. Sainsbury's were also a favourite. :)
firsttimemum090 there not that much dearer when normal price. and you can get a massive box for about £4.... x x

beccii161016 · 17/08/2018 21:34

Swear by them!

We started off with Pampers religiously but had a free sample of Mamia and never went back. No leaking, for perfect and didn't seem to irritate DS as much.

beccii161016 · 17/08/2018 21:35

Also the Mamia sensitive baby wipes are by far the best I've tried. The Pampers and Huggies sting even my face so I dread to think how they feel to a baby! The Mamia ones are gentle but they do the job well too

Bellaposy · 17/08/2018 21:36

We found them great and recommend them a lot to friends who are expecting. DD got nappy rash the one and only time she wore pampers!

BlueBug45 · 17/08/2018 22:06

@firsttimemum090 is there any reason you write in just capital letters? In all forums it is regarded as shouting.

In regards to the normal price they were about £1.25 a pack for the newborn size.

ThanksItHasPockets · 17/08/2018 22:57

I like the papmpers as they have the marker to show how wet

Aldi newborn nappies (in the yellow packs, sizes 1 and 2 only) have wetness indicators.

Be warned if you are switching between Pampers and Aldi that some of their sizes are different. Pampers size 2 is 9-18 lb but Aldi is 6-13 lb and the nappies are considerably smaller. It has caught me out before!

welshcake82 · 17/08/2018 23:08

Another vote here for Aldi nappies after trying most of the brands out there. They're cheap and leak less than the rest (they all leak at some point). Pampers are really expensive and not that great.

Don't buy too many newborn size however and never ever buy Lidl wipes!

Mumshotel · 17/08/2018 23:28

Aldi nappies were the best for me. My kids were very sensitive skinned/eczema prone when babies and these didn't irritate, nor leak.

Don't stock up too much as they often have baby events and they are cheap any way. You won't know what sizes you need yet x

Mumshotel · 17/08/2018 23:29

I always reffered to papers as pissy papers because I felt that they smelt and aldi and asda little angels didn't.

Mumshotel · 17/08/2018 23:30

Pampers not papers. I'm going to sleep ha

Katy1610 · 18/08/2018 05:52

Don’t worry about stocking up because of the price - aldi newborn nappies are always 85p and are not included in the baby event 😊

Lauren83 · 18/08/2018 06:25

We love them, much better than others IMO, Morrisons are good too. I agree with PP don't but loads of 1s, my DS was only in 1s for 2 weeks, he is in 4+ now at 7 months

MaverickSnoopy · 18/08/2018 06:38

I love Aldi and Lidl nappies. I mention Lidl as I did the MN product trail and instantly loved them.

With DD1 we used pampers for about 18 months whenever we could find them on sale. Honestly though we had to change them very frequently and they often leaked otherwise. They also smelt after one small wee so not what you really want - was ghastly if out and about and you couldn't get to changing facilities within seconds. I remember standing in a queue thinking "oooh I can smell public toilets" and then realising it was DD!! From then onwards we used mostly sainsburys and occasionally asda both of which were fine for us. Very rarely we used Aldi ones but I did find them good and so they were our choice of nappy for dd2.

We've been using Aldi and sometimes Lidl nappies for over 2 years now and we've not had any wee leeks and only a handful of newborn explosive poo nappies. We're going to have 2 in nappies soon so we've been stocking up on nappies for our newborn. So far I think we have something like 4 packs of size 1 and 4 packs of size 2. We also have a few random packs of other sizes left from dd2.

Generally speaking we found that newborns go through about 10 nappies in 24 hours. Our babies have always been born at about 8lbs so we also don't buy many size 1 but enough to get through a week or two before moving onto size 2. I've never worried about whether the nappies will fit or suit them/over buying because you can return them without receipts usually. I say usually because I've never had a problem doing so but you never know.

stripeytshirt77 · 18/08/2018 06:46

We love Aldi nappies.
Lidl’s were good too.
Our Aldi sells the nappies for 85p permanently. I didn’t like pampers because they have a sort of mesh, and when nappy is wet it looks like it would be uncomfortable (a bit like the mesh in men’s swimming shorts, which dh says is uncomfortable when wet on holiday).

ginandnappies · 18/08/2018 07:41

Pamper nappies are the worst I've found. So leaky. Aldi are the best we've tried :)

JW1226 · 18/08/2018 11:59

I love Aldi nappies they are far the best for my son x

jadeward89 · 18/08/2018 12:05

I love Aldi nappies! We are using them for dd2 who’s almost 11 weeks old. Don’t stock up too much as others have said you don’t know how long baby will be in size 1. Though they are a smaller pack compared to size 2 nappies. We did buy 4 packs to start with.
They are only 99p normally anyway so it’s not much more than when the baby event is on.

dinosaurkisses · 18/08/2018 12:11

I moved to Lidl nappies after taking part in the MN product review- they are fantastic for the price, and definitely better than Pampers which frequently leaked.

123bananas · 18/08/2018 12:13

I prefer Lidl nappies to Aldi.

Tesco ones also great.

aaaarti · 18/08/2018 13:15

I work as a nursery nurse and use lots of different nappies that the parents bring in. Aldi ones are defo the best but recommend using pampers the first few weeks just because they're a bit thinner for the baby.
Emma's Diary are giving away a whole pack of pampers nappies in their second pack!

Charlottejade89 · 18/08/2018 18:06

Another vote for Aldi nappies. I have been using a mixture of aldi size 1 and pampers on my 3 week old dd as I had a load of free ones and the aldi ones are far better. The pampers feel really thin and smell after one wee. As I do my food shop at Aldi it's easy to pick them up there and I also use the formula and wipes

Azra12 · 18/08/2018 21:44

I’m using Lidl nappies atm on my 15 month old and can say they are definitely worth it & compare well to Aldi’s nappies

Theweasleytwins · 18/08/2018 21:50

Pampers gave my dc nappy rash
Always use Aldi
