Doctors prescribe ranitidine for my pain and sickness at night has anyone used this and found it worked? I can't keep trying to make myself sick to be able to sleep at night!

I used it - I still do now im not pregnant. Was fab.

Whymustyoubringinthebirds · 17/08/2018 16:42

I also used it and while I still needed gaviscon it made it so much better - if you have it worse at night I would recommend taking the tablet at night time although it works for a while it did start waring off for me about lunchtime (took about at night)

MrMeSeeks · 17/08/2018 16:51

Yes, had a reaction

SecretWitch · 17/08/2018 16:54

Yes and still do. The only medication that helped with my acid stomach.

@Trollop1 @Whymustyoubringinthebirds @MrMeSeeks @SecretWitch thanks for your opinions and experiences ladies I'm hoping it'll work!!!

Good luck with the med and wishing you a lovely pregnancy! ( after the struggle with the sickness)

Stroller15 · 17/08/2018 17:22

Oh goodness I can't go without Ranitidine! 36 weeks pregnant with my 2nd and the heartburn is so bad it makes me cry sometimes - not overly dramatic at all.

Anjied · 17/08/2018 17:40

I have just been given it on day 3 and at present is so much pain. Thought it was working but not today. Will keep trying & hope it kicks back in

StarfishSandwich · 17/08/2018 19:12

I have to take it morning and evening or I’m a vomity mess! I can get away with 75mg in the morning but have to have 150mg in the evening.

louella99 · 17/08/2018 21:02

I take it and it works for me. Took antacid tablets, then progressed to Gaviscon. Now at 38 weeks those don't do the job!

MrsSkeffington · 17/08/2018 21:07

I take 300mg morning and 300mg at night for a hiatus hernia - it's given me my life back

MrsPandaBear · 17/08/2018 21:12

Worked for me but it does take several days for the pain to go. It gave me constipation though, and when the constipation got bad the reflux came back - I eventually went got put on lactulose which sorted it. I had some symptoms come back later in pregnancy when I ate the wrong things but with a food diary was able to identify key triggers (cake turned out to be the main culprit :( ).

PipsM · 17/08/2018 21:16

I was prescribed it but it didn’t totally work for me so I ended up with omeprazole which was a life saver. I gave it a fortnight or so and then asked for something else.
And it’s amazing - it usually goes away immediately when you have your baby!!

MrsSkeffington · 21/08/2018 08:41

Omeprazole is a dodgy drug with serious long term health implications

seizethecuttlefish · 21/08/2018 08:48

I used it. I had terrible acid reflux. I ended up on omprezole, which was amazing!

FrangipaniBlue · 21/08/2018 08:50

Friend who is a doctor carries a permanent supply around with her. She swears by it!

IamPickleRick · 21/08/2018 08:51

It’s the most amazing thing, I’m not exaggerating when I say it made my life so much happier. I had horrific heartburn in all 3 pregnancies from day 1 and drank 18 bottles of Gaviscon in the first pregnancy. The second and third one, I had ranitidine and life was good again!
