Thrush at 38 weeks

Hi.

I found out that I have a thrush for the first time ever and I'm 38 weeks pregnant. I took the Canesten gel pessary last night and also been using the external cream but I'm still itchy as hell Sad I'm worried this won't clear out before I go in to labour and I will tear badly again as thrush apparently increases the risk of it. Can I take another pessary in a few days or should I wait and go to the gp for something else (is there anything else..?)?

Get some optibac probiotics for women and eat some natural probiotic yoghurt (unflavoured!)

Nicelunch25 · 16/08/2018 13:52

Maybe yoghurt? Phone midwife for advice?

17birds has good advice. Some Optibac probiotics as they work from the inside out to rebalance things for you.
Keep slathering on Canesten cream, go knickerless, if you can, as much as possible, avoid jeans, leggings etc... and anything that might irritate or increase the warmth and moistness down there. Baths will also offer temporary relief.
Nicelunch25 is also right. Get some natural yogurt which is loaded with all those gut friendly bacteria.

Thanks ladies.

I've been using the cream and also some topida spray and been taking probiotics all through my pregnancy. I could actually feel a cut down there today which is why I'm a bit freaked out. I really want to get this sorted before giving birth Confused

I got it 2 days before my due date. I had the pessary and cream and it cleared thankfully.

How long did it take before your symptoms were gone?

48hrs. I told them whilst in labour but they weren't bothered.

Pickledgerkingsareathing · 16/08/2018 22:38

I'm nearly 37 weeks and the doctor has refused to prescribe me anything for it ! Straight to the chemist I go Monday morning ! Petrified of going into labour and it not have cleared up :(

Go to your midwife and she can give you canesten for it. I just bought it over the counter but not sure how long I should wait for the symptoms to clear up.
