Continue acupuncture after bfp?

Hi all, very tentatively jumping over to this board after positive tests on Sunday and Monday putting me now at 4w+6. (still sinking in! 😊) Conceived cycle 8, had started fertility investigations w gp (bloods, scans, fertility clinic appt booked, was looking like my progesterone was low), and for the past 3 months have been having acupuncture sessions 2 weekly. I can't 100% say the acu has helped (I never got to the 'super relaxed /blissed out stage' in the sessions) but it may have done, and from my experience I would recommend to anyone considering it, at least to try.
That said, should I now continue with sessions in pregnancy? Acu therapist said yes, ideally weekly! to 12 weeks, but that is not practical for me. I could continue 2-3 weekly, but do people generally keep going?

Is it thought to help? Are there risks?
Thanks is for any insights!

Hi congratulations on your bfp!
I started my acupuncture to help with fertility and am now pregnant too (might not be linked but helped with my anxiety massively). I have continued with my sessions every 2-3 weeks and found that they have helped me sleep better and feel a bit calmer about the whole process. Its a nice opportunity to unwind! As long as you have told your therapist about the pregnancy then I'm not aware of any other risks. The therapist needs to avoid certain positioning of needles but they should already be aware of this as it is covered as part of their training and qualifications.

@eyesontheprize57 Thank you, and thanks for the reply! Yes she is trained in treating in pregnancy. I decided to go along today and it was a very different protocol, quite relaxing and she mentioned all my pulses were strong so it did actually reassure me a bit since i had had a bit of spotting last week, and at this early stage all you have is a +ve test with no other indication it's a bit surreal! Think I will have another session or 2 and see how I feel. Thanks again and hope all goes well with you 🙂
