My mind is still reeling from the positive test; but I am going into Family Planning today to confirm (both my partner and I are waiting to hear from a doctor that yes, we are expecting). My mind is positively spinning with what I need to ask them or talk about. Some of the things I am thinking are

  • Advice for a good midwife/Ob Gyn
  • What's normal cramping vs abnormal cramping that needs to be checked out
  • If it's ok to continue with my normal work (Night Shift at a gas station, so inside all night, away from the fumes)

I'm wondering if there is anything else which would be good to ask them about or if I'm forgetting anything. This will be my first pregnancy and we weren't REALLY trying - we weren't NOT trying, but we also didn't expect anything this month, since it's only been one month since I had my implant fully removed (as opposed to 90% removed) and I've only had one period since removal.

Congratulations! I’m assuming you aren’t in the UK from the language you’ve used?

Ask them what vitamins you need to be taking and what foods you need to avoid. Ask what the routine is regarding checkups (here in the UK we get scans at 12w and 20w as standard). If you are in the US, do you need to let your medical insurance know that you are pregnant?

I'm a kiwi, so all good with the insurance thing. Thanks for reminding me about the vitamins - I stopped my multi because it's got vitamin a in it and need a script for frolic acid.
