So, i am 26 weeks, and im getting so frustrated with trying to figure out how far along that actually is. Some sites say 2nd trimester still, 5 months a 3 weeks... and other sites say i am in my 3rd trimester and 6 and a half months along.

Anyone else getting frustrated with this? people keep asking how far along i am and i dont know how to bloody answer lol! (26 weeks usually means nothing to men and those who havent been pregnant)

Not something that’s ever bothered me to be honest. I’d just say ‘26 weeks’ and if they looked completely blank I’d say ‘about 6 months’. People are generally only asking out of vague interest or to be polite, they don’t need an accurate, to the day answer (unless it’s a HCP in which case 26 weeks is fine).

WinterBabyIsComing · 14/08/2018 11:28

According to my Ovia App 3rd trimester is 28 weeks. When I calculate in months I work back from my due date, if you just divide your 'weeks' by 4 it won't work as you end up being pregnant for 10 months!

InNeedOfALieInNow · 14/08/2018 11:30

You’re pregnant for 40 weeks which is 9.23 months. (40/4.33)
At 26 weeks you’re 6 months along (26/4.33)

Or 26/40*100 is 65% of your pregnancy done and 65% of 9.23 months is 6 months

Eeeeek2 · 14/08/2018 11:36

I just calculate to how many months left so currently a little over 3 months to go so I'm about 6 months. Or say I'm due near the end of November, which gives me some time to go overdue.

Stephisaur · 14/08/2018 12:26

I’m due in December and that’s 4 months away, so I say 5 months. I’m technically 22+1 which makes me 5.5 months, but I’m not due until the middle so that isn’t really right 😂

K9pal7 · 14/08/2018 13:38

I always go by my due date 🤷‍♀️ am due 13th September so i count myself 8 months yesterday

GemGem97 · 14/08/2018 13:39

its so confusing isnt it! thanks guys for your help, just wish there was 1 way to calculate it that everyone stuck to!!

I wouldnt worry too much about other people... Just say something that is roughly correct! Or just think of due date and work backwards. NHS website lays it out as 0 - 8 weeks, 2 months, 9 - 12 weeks = 3 months, 13 - 16 = 4 months, 17 - 20 = 5 months etc. The last week is completion of that month e.g if you are 14 weeks you are 3.5 months, 18 weeks you are 4.5 months. You aren't 5 months until u get to the end of week 20. Does that make sense?

dementedpixie · 14/08/2018 13:45

26 weeks is 6 months (half of 52 weeks which is 1 year)

SophieStripe · 14/08/2018 13:46

Actually just counted what I have written adds up to 10 months... I may have written it out wrongly. But have a look at NHS website, it's pretty clear!

dementedpixie · 14/08/2018 13:47

There aren't 4 weeks in a month though so that doesnt really work

dementedpixie · 14/08/2018 13:48

Bupa says 3rd trimester is from 28 weeks

dementedpixie · 14/08/2018 13:49

Just say you have 3 months left or that you are 6 months pregnant

Ohyesiam · 14/08/2018 13:50

Just say your due date if people ask how many months pregnant you are

SophieStripe · 14/08/2018 13:54

A pregnancy isn't half of a year either... So that doesn't work either! 😂 Basically, this is why pregnancy isn't calculated in months. Just make it up, no one will know!

SophieStripe · 14/08/2018 13:56

Use this!

BertieBotts · 14/08/2018 14:30

If you're 26 weeks that is exactly 6 months, it's the middle of the month so I'd say that's when to have your changeover. At the middle of September it will be 7 months, in the middle of October 8 months, and you must be due around the middle of November.

GemGem97 · 14/08/2018 14:32

haha blimey think we're all confused, @SophieStripe thank you LOL i will just make it up hahaha

Just wait until baby is here... I get blank looks when I tell people DS is 4 1/2months-ish. I lost count of weeks when he was 10/11weeks old ConfusedGrin

twobambinos · 14/08/2018 19:54

Ya it's annoying if u say 34 weeks to people they say 8.5 months but I still have 6 weeks to go so more than half a month. I wouldn't worry about it just nod and smile.

Girlwiththearabstrap · 14/08/2018 20:22

I've never really understood the confusion over this. Surely you just count back from your due date. So e.g. if you're due mid Nov you'd be about 6 months. I think when people ask they are just looking for a rough timeframe so dont worry too much about weeks and trimesters!
