13 weeks pregnant - spotting/light bleeding every day

I wondered if anyone else has had similar? It’s been going on for a couple of weeks now, I’ve been scanned and baby is looking fine. They can’t see a haematoma, placenta is high and they can’t see any blood on the ultrasound.

Yet every day I wake up and there is blood when I wipe. Sometimes a bit more later in the day but never a significant amount, mostly reddy/brown in colour.

Nobody seems interested in investigating any further but it is driving me crazy! Has anyone experience similar?

The same thing happened to me at 13 weeks and, like you, I've really struggled to accept that this is normal. But apparently it can happen and there is no cause necessarily. It's horrible though and has made me super anxious about everything so I send sympathy! But at the hospital it didn't really raise eyebrows with anybody. The phrase constantly repeated was "some women bleed for the entirety of the pregnancy, it's very common to have bleeds". They were sympathetic but not worried. We're predisposed to think bleeding is automatically bad and I never ever knew that it was as common as it supposedly is. But apparently it is!

I had spotting on and off from 6-8 weeks. I had two scans during this time, both of which showed a healthy baby with a strong heartbeat ❤ I'm now 10 weeks and haven't had any spotting for two weeks.

Same here, I had pink/brown spotting in week 12, 15, 16 & 17. Each time I ran to doctors or a hospital in panic (ended up at 3 different places because I happened to be in different towns when it happened). At every place they seemed totally unfazed, and my checks were exactly like yours. Placenta, baby and cervix looked fine, no obvious cause for bleeding found. I think it probably happens a lot more often than people think and medical staff are so used to dealing with it.

I read somewhere that it can be caused by tiny burst blood vessels when everything is growing and stretching down there. If it's just pink or brown then the actual amount of blood in there is microscopic...probably 1 drop or so. I actually get more blood flossing teeth because after I rinse and spit the mixture looks much darker!

my first pregnancy i bled most days throughout the pregnancy right to the end and they could not find a cause. this time im now 18 weeks and the same is happening. they still have no idea what it is!! its still very scary when it gets heavier etc. its so annoying though

Sorry you’re all experiencing it too but relieved I’m not alone. It’s really ruining a lot of my days at the moment. There doesn’t seem to be any consistency, it happens at the most inconvenient times (now for example, in the middle of a national trust park, do I perch near the loo or keep walking and hope for the best?!). Driving me nuts.

If you can bear it, I just wore light pads all the time
