I have two boys and desperate for a girl - this is the undershot - I didn’t have one like this with the boys just side shots so no idea if this is or not but I don’t want to get rid of all the boy clothes yet as I still don’t believe it. Help.

Yes. That's a girl. Congratulations.

Actually I posted an almost identical post about 18 months ago when I found out I was having a girl after two boys. I was in denial until she was born.

She's currently cruising on the sofa next to me.

Enjoy it. It IS a girl x

violet0805 · 13/08/2018 16:46

I've got a boy and 2 girls - it looks like a girl to me! Congratulations 💗

Dalesgirl16 · 13/08/2018 16:50

Congrats! How do you know it's a girl from looking at that?

JeremiahBackflip · 13/08/2018 16:55

I couldn't tell for definite that DD was a girl, the sonographer wasn't 100% sure.

I was totally certain DS was a boy because you couldn't mistake his penis for anything else. He was very obviously a boy.

So id go with being pretty certain it is a girl but don't get rid of your baby clothes yet. Mostly because there's no reason not to put your new baby in them?

Eden80 · 13/08/2018 17:04

I’ve got all the boys newborn in the loft and I don’t mind putting her in those but my two year olds stuff is getting passed on now as I don’t have space for it really either but so glad I can start fresh and not over buy.

I didn’t think my husband stocked girls but we used shettles method and it worked first time - still can’t get my head around saying ‘she’ it feels unreal.

I am still looking at it and thinking it could be wrong - tempted to book another scan now

If you feel the need to book another scan go ahead but I think you'll probably be in denial until she's born because you're desperate for a girl.

It certainly looks like a girl to me, my boy was very obvious.

kirinm · 14/08/2018 16:53

I was told I was having a girl at my 20 week scan and after a while decided that I didn't think they sounded certain and maybe they were wrong. Had my 36 week scan a week or so ago and they asked if I knew what I was having. I said 'girl but I'm doubting it' and as soon as they did the scan they said 'nope, still a girl'.

I would hedge my bets and say the sonographer is right.

Mrs5boys · 14/08/2018 18:19

As my name suggests I have 5 boys ,,, baby number 6 I was told was a girl ,,,,, I posted the photo on here asking what everyone thought as I wouldn’t believe it ! I booked a scan 2 weeks later to see what they said ,,, they said girl ,,, then hospital scan at 5 months confirmed girl but I wouldn’t believe it until I saw her ! We actually kept it secret what we were having from everyone until she was born and it was such an unexpected surprise for everyone ❤️

Mrs5boys · 14/08/2018 18:21

I looked at so so many scan photos on google and comparing to my scan pic and I would say yours def looks like a baby girl !

Eden80 · 14/08/2018 18:29

Mrs5boys that’s amazing a sixth being a girl- I am not surprised you couldn’t believe it either!

Five boys. Oh my god! I bet it’s chaotic but a lot of fun.

I’m having a girl and my scan looked quite similar to that. Before the scan I did a google image search and looked at the differences between boy and girl scans. With a girl it’s the three lines you look out for, which you can see. Also, I have noticed a lot of differences with a girl pregnancy. Worse/longer morning sickness, much higher bump, more bloated and spotty etc.

Eden80 · 14/08/2018 19:41

See I am finding hard to see three lines on the potty shot. My sisters already gone out and started buying. 🧐

@eden80 I’m in exactly the same situation as you - we have two boys and just found out dc3 is a girl. I paid for a private scan last week and the sonographer was confident, but I can’t wait to check again next week at our 20 week scan.

It’s hard to believe it’s true isn’t it?!

Eden80 · 14/08/2018 21:35

Did they give you a scan pic? Yes it’s really hard to believe - there are endless boys on DH side not a girl in sight for two generations🙀

OP posts:
TheCag · 14/08/2018 21:44

Yes, at the private scan they printed several pics for me which are clearly girl. Not the classic three lines though (I’ve attached one). It was the first time I’ve paid for a private scan but I feel like it was £50 well spent!

dingdongdigeridoo · 14/08/2018 23:48

It’s a nice clear shot, and if there was a penis or testicles then I’m sure you’d see a smudge or something. When we found out I was having DS it was so obvious. It’s hard to miss a penis from that angle!

Eden80 · 15/08/2018 07:22

TheCag oh there is no mistaking her for a boy.

Yes I think the absence of a penis looks promising 😂 I am booked in for a growth scan but that is October and not sure if I can wait until then with lingering doubt. My husband thinks I am being paranoid and of the sonographer said it’s a girl then it is - I wish I’d not read all the ‘they got my gender scan wrong’ stories now as it’s made the niggle a real possibility in my mind.

beccii161016 · 15/08/2018 08:57

I know there have been cases where people have been told one sex and given birth to the opposite but honestly, from the potty shot you have it would be glaringly obvious if it was a boy.

It's incredible how clearly a penis and testicles show up on a potty shot, you wouldn't think it with baby being so tiny.

TheCag · 15/08/2018 09:33

I do think the quality of scans is so good now, mistaking a boy for a girl is much rarer than it was just a few years ago. Our sonographer said they can’t say they have a 100% accuracy rate but do claim 99.9%.
