Babies Movements

I am probably being paranoid, but I’m starting to get slightly concerned about my babies movements. I keep being told about monitoring your babies movements, as in take note at what their pattern is. Then, if this is reduced to contact the assessment unit. However my baby doesn’t seem to have a pattern. I’m 29+2 and thought by now I’d notice a pattern and that the kicks would get stronger. However some days he is quite active, but the majority of the time he doesn’t seem to move a lot. He used to move most mornings, sometimes in the afternoons and always at night. Now I never feel him in the mornings. He seems to move some days in the afternoon, and he’ll also move in the evenings, but not as much as he has done in the past. Also I can feel him move, but you can’t always see or feel from the outside, which I’m a little bit disappointed about as I feel my partner is missing out.
He is probably fine, but is this what some pregnancies are like, and if I can feel him move at least a few times in a day that should be OK?

Where is you placenta, if it is on the front of you uterus you may not feel (or see) as much movements. But if you are concerned check with your midwife, it is always better to be on the safe side.

I'm 36 weeks and have yet to find a pattern with my baby's movements. After 28 weeks but before 34 weeks if I was sitting or lying then a lot of times I could feel my baby move but not always. At around 33 weeks I could feel limbs sticking out and after 34 weeks my baby movements are much stronger so I can feel them most of the time and randomly feel plus see limbs being stuck out including when walking.

@JellyandSoup I’ve no idea where my placenta is if I’m honest.

@BlueBug45 I’m quite looking forward to limbs sticking out, will make it feel more real.

I guess so long as I’m getting frequent movements everyday I shouldn’t worry too much that there doesn’t appear to be a particular pattern to them. I’m certainly growing in size anyway, my dog walking pants are getting too difficult to close and they used to be a size too big for me!

I'm 33 weeks and def haven't determined a real pattern with movements. If I don't think I've felt them in a while I sit or lie down and wait and usually feel something within the hour. If you're in any doubt though could you call the Triage midwives at your hospital for advice?

I agree with all the above. Speak to your midwife if you are worried.
It should say on your scan notes where your placenta is.
My placenta was at the front. I didn’t feel any movements until 28 weeks! And I definitely could never establish a pattern. I did go in towards the end of my pregnancy to be assessed for reduced fetal movements. I was always taken very seriously and treated with a lot of care.
My baby is currently fine and feeding in my arms. Enjoy your pregnancy. If you are worried then do seek advice but don’t spend time feeling disappointed that your partner can’t feel stuff etc. That will come with time. Plus if it doesn’t - like in my case- then it ultimately doesn’t really matter.
