Third trimester - knickers!

I'm 29 weeks and I need to admit defeat on my pre-pregnancy knickers, they are cutting into me horribly.

When I'm at home I've taken to wearing DHs boxers, but I can't wear them at work (corporate dress and they go funny under tights, all rucked up around the gusset).

I can't afford to buy expensive knickers to last the next 10 or so weeks plus that post birth bit when you're holding in an industrial pad.

Recommendations for your comfiest, cheap 3rd trimester knickers please!

I got away with the same size first pregnancy, this time I've been forced to go from size 10 to 12-14, I went with high leg (but low style) ones from Morrison's as I carry low and just nothing was comfortable any more. Also some very stretchy short style ones that were a little more but not expensive.

I always liked cheap asda/tesco or m&s short style pants during pregnancy. Im still wearing them almost 4 years later, so damn comfortable and no lines.

You've reminded me, DH's granny gave me lots of big knickers. Genuine granny knickers that might have been at least 30 years old. Yakky. They went straight in the bin.

Morrisons black full briefs will work.

I went up one size with a few multipacks of M&S knickers from early on. All my pre-pregnancy ones, mostly Victoria's Secret, have gone into storage. I just wanted comfort.

I managed with normal ones under my bump and got big pants for the birth and afterwards. Sadly they were so comfy I kept wearing them and haven’t given them up.

@bluebug45 you're one of the lucky ones I guess! I have clearly put on weight around the hips and thighs not to mention the large bump (this is DC3) so my normal knickers were basically cutting into me in 3 different places.

I'm normally a 10-12 but have now bought 14-16 "full brief" knicks from peacocks and they are so comfy.

I've never gone back to my pre-pregnancy pants and DS is 1 Smile I've lost 2.5 stone so went back down a size but much to my DH's dismay I'm converted to big knickers. So comfortable and cheap as chips!

I just bought big black granny pants in a multipack from Asda and sized up. Changed my life!

PerditaMacleod · 15/08/2018 12:31

Asda black full briefs, 2 sizes bigger than usual.

I also just went up a few sizes and got a multi pack of big Bridget Jones knickers. I was so grateful when I ended up having an EMCS with DD1 and carried on wearing them, and my maternity jeans, for weeks afterwards.

I actually really don’t enjoy the over the bump style, find them really uncomfortable especially if they don’t quite go all the way over and you get a line across the bump. I’ve bought a multipack of cheap Asda grannies for after delivery but during pregnancy I’ve been wearing the Mothercare maternity knickers, they are under bump style. They cost 10£ for 5 pairs and are mixed black, white and nude. I went up one size but then I generally do with undies as hate things digging in!!
If you’d like an alternative to over the bump I’d recommend giving these a go, lovely cotton and wash really well.

@bluebug I find that amazing- lucky you! I've managed to go from size 8-10 to size 16 🙈

Another vote for Primark! I brought some enormous (even by my standards and I like big pants) cheap pants that came up to my waist in a size up and some slightly smaller but stretchy pants, again in a size up. I've been wearing them post-birth after an EMCS 6 weeks ago but managed to get away with my normal underwear throughout pregnancy, they just sat a bit lower than normal.
