Calendula safe during pregnancy for piles?

Hi all

I've developed pregnancy piles and they are really uncomfortable and sometimes quite sore. I've put a bit of my DD's Weleda Calendula nappy cream on them and have found that it helps. However, I've just been looking up online if it's safe to use during pregnancy as I'm currently 23 weeks pregnant with my second and am finding mixed information.

I did read that calendula is used to bring on menstruation so can be unsafe for pregnancy. Does anyone know any more about this? Also, if this is true, how is it safe as a nappy cream for babies? We have been using it on DD since birth and she's now 2 as we thought it was the best product for her but I'm now worried!

I’m not sure about whether it’s safe in pregnancy, best to check with your MW given it can apparently bring on menstruation.

As for using it on newborns, I live in Germany and everybody uses the calendula cream from birth onwards. It’s amazing stuff. The midwives and hospitals usually dish samples of it out to expectant and new mums.
