Finding Work in V.Early Pregnancy

Hi Ladies!

So I'm having a spot of bother at the moment. My partner and I have just given up fairly decent jobs in London, to move back home to Cornwall and start our little family. We didn't think it would be this quick, but we've already fallen pregnant, and I'm now 6 weeks along. (Yay!)

My partner has been incredibly lucky to walk into a job almost identical to the position he held in London (he works primarily as a camera man, so we're a bit worried he wouldn't find anything down here!). But I'm really struggling to find work, as well as convince my mother that everything will be okay and pregnant women no longer have to sit in confinement for 9 months 🙄

Should I be honest with any potential employers from the outset? Or should I tell them only once I hit the 12 week mark? Should I be looking at taking anything I can find, or hold out for something nice in an office where I can be sat down all day?!

Annoyingly I worked as a Deputy Stage Manger in London, something that works well for pregnant women because you only work for about 5 hours each evening, and you're sat down for the most part! We just couldn't afford the London lifestyle any more. I have a years experience working in administration, but I have to admit I'm really struggling to get noticed down here!

Anyone else had to job hunt whilst pregnant?

I'm 10ish weeks and currently on the search. I'm not planning on disclosing I'm pregnant until I am in my role, contracts signed if I can help it.

Congratulations!

I would keep quiet , I don't think you even have to tell them at 12 weeks.... I think it's more like 24 weeks.... I might be wrong !

I'm currently trying to find part time work around my partner's hours (we already have 2 kids) and we're about to start TTC! Hopefully find something before I fall pregnant but if I don't I won't be mentioning it til I have to. Unless I show really early, which I might actually do since it's the 3rd 🙈

Any luck on the job front @Kelsoid ??

I've just been offered a post ... now to work out when to tell them 🙈

I'm 7 weeks and also job hunting! Trying to find remote work so I can work from home - can't face leaving the house right now!

Hello! I am 10 weeks and just qualified as a staff nurse, becoming pregnant wasnt part of the plan! I was going to walk into a nursing job and work for at least 18 months before even thinking about children. Here I am, excited about my baby but unemployed! It has been a major stressor for me to be honest as I don't know what I'm entitled to maternity pay-wise. I have never been unemployed so this is all new to me. I am applying and like yourselfs don't know when to disclose as I don't want potential employers to discriminate against me! Im terrified of being skint!
