Period like pains

So lastnight arou d 2am I woke up to what feels exactly like period pains in my lower abdomen and back. I'm currently 28+5 weeks pregnant with my first and haven't had this before? Is this normal?
Since being pregnant I've been to A&E 3 times and it's always turned out to be nothing and I'd hate to return but I can't help feeling worried. Did anyone else experience this sort of thing?

It's normal to experience period like pains throughout pregnancy but they should ease off eventually. If they start to get intense and paracetamol aren't touching them or if they are in very definite waves, I'd call your midwife. A hot bath usually helps with those types of pains too.
