Pregnant with Mirena coil?

Hi,

I've had my coil in two years, I still have periods but they're light. This month I started spotting brown watery blood, I don't usually bleed in between periods...

I'm cramping but not the kind of pain I'd expect to be in considering I'm due my period in a few days (usually I get bad pains).

I took a test this morning (not first wee of the day). My friend thinks it's positive, I think negative.

Whatever that line is it came up within a minute, what do you all think?

I can see a very faint line.

Could you get a first response and do it in the morning?

floralbloom · 09/08/2018 17:02

I will do another test tomorrow morning with first wee of the day.

I've attached another photo that I think is clearer. Does it look like an evaporation line? It came up straight away..

I mean it does look very faint but if it came up within a minute it's unlikely to be evap.

Maybe do a test in the morning and book in with your GP either way to ask for a blood test as you have the coil.

I'm so scared. I have a coil ffs.

Any other opinions on the line? Anyone had one like this and not been pregnant?

With a coil fitted correctly, you are highly unlikely to be pregnant.

However, you are just as likely to have an ectopic pregnancy as anyone who doesn't have a coil. While I personally don't see a line, if you really think you are pregnant you must see a doctor ASAP as ectopics need to be dealt with as a matter of urgency.

Spooples · 09/08/2018 18:42

That's definitely a positive. Mirena doesn't prevent ectopic pregnancy unfortunately. :/ definitely worth getting checked out. Hugs.

floralbloom · 09/08/2018 20:07

That's what I'm worried about snooples especially because I'm spotting.

I can see lines on both. As PP said, unlikely to be an evap line if came up straight away.

Spooples · 09/08/2018 20:42

@floralbloom. I'm sorry - it must be so stressful :( get checked out ASAP if you can xx

SchrodingersMeowth · 09/08/2018 20:55

I’m sorry but that’s definitely a positive. Much more likely to have a false negative.

I have a copper coil and this though scares me every day, please get checked out in case it’s ectopic, there’s also a high risk to the pregnancy when you have a coil still in.

Bellabutterfly2016 · 09/08/2018 21:11

Looks positive to me. I'd be at the 24hr chemist getting another test by now if it was me.
My friend lost about 25st and her cool moved and she got pregnant whilst having a mirena fitted. If you've lost weight recently this could have happend perhaps?

Bellabutterfly2016 · 09/08/2018 21:12

Sorry that should say 2.5st NOT 25!!!!

floralbloom · 10/08/2018 13:28

I thought 25 stones was a lot Shock

I've lost 2 stones since having it put in as I had it put in 6 weeks after giving birth, but I've been up and down in the two years.

I took another test this morning, a faint line on the same brand and negative on a different brand. So I don't know Confused

Can you go to an urgent care centre? Explain that you're worried about eptopic. They'll do a pg test and take it from there.

ChipsAndMoreChips · 10/08/2018 13:43

Ectopic even Hmm

Bellabutterfly2016 · 12/08/2018 08:15

@floralbloom
Any update? Have you done another test? X
