Stocking up - what to buy

I’m due January with my first baby and Im trying to start stocking up on essentials as I see them on offer. I’ve just noticed boots have a baby event on so will probably buy a few things but how many of each size nappy will I need?

And if I keep the receipts will I be able to return any unused items?

Thanks

Don’t go crazy on nappies. Different brands can fit differently and some don’t seem to be a good match for some babies. I bought 2-3 packs, then topped up when needed. Only had about half a pack leftover when we moved up a size, as opposed to a friend who had 4 bags leftover!

I bought 1 shampoo, 1 baby oil, 1 talc etc, and people gave me so much that I’m still getting through it 14 months later.

I also bought loads of maternity pads but hated them and switched to normal ones with wings. Also bought lots of breastpads and was allergic to the damn things. Gave a lot of stuff away!

Boots Baby Event isn't particularly cheap unlike baby events from the supermarkets. (I actually brought some maternity pads before the event and it is still the same price.) Likewise Mothercare Baby Event just puts stuff at the same normal price as everywhere else.

I wouldn’t stock up on nappies as you don’t know what will fit/suit your baby. I’d buy a large pack of size 1’s and see how it goes!
To be honest I wouldn’t stock up on anything. There are always deals/offers on in supermarkets etc. The Boots baby event isn’t particularly cheap.
This is my third baby (due end of December) and I won’t be stocking up at all. Just buying a few of the essentials.

OP if you are happy to give your details away and suffer some junk mail the Emma's Diary and Bounty apps allow you to get packs, some of which contain 20-22 nappies for newborns in Argos, Asda and Tescos. (Boots oddly doesn't give you any even though you can collect stuff from there.)

I bought 2 large packs of 1s, 2s and 3s. I'm glad I did as it meant I had a lot in and have barely had to buy any in the first 4 months! I was given a lot of size 1s and 2s and I didn't need to buy any extra!
