Baby bump

I'm 19 weeks today, first baby, and am still waking up with a flat stomach. I only seem to get a slight bump after eating but this hasn't seemed to get any bigger in the last few weeks. Should I be worried that the baby has stopped growing? I've got my 20 week scan next week and am really worried that they'll find something is wrong. I'm extremely anxious about everything with this pregnancy since it's taken 4 years to fall pregnant and we have had failed IVF in the past.

I'm 39 weeks now but didn't show for a long time given that it's my first. I did pop in the end and it's flipping huge now! Grin I'm sure it will come, just enjoy being comfortable xx

I had a small bump at 20 weeks, it wasn't obvious I was pregnant at all. This is quite common with a first pregnancy so try not to worry.

I had a small bump all the way through, started to show about 25 weeks. I worried the whole time and got sick of people making comments but baby is good size, no stretch marks and from day one of baby being here stomach has almost gone back to how it was pre pregnancy (stealth boast there!!)

I carried both my DC transverse and didn't show properly until 36 and 34 weeks when they turned. I just looked chubby (the kind of look that makes you think God they've put on weight)

I'm bloody 29 weeks and I still just look fat although she is measuring fine according to mw. I want my bump!

Izzyw1983 · 08/08/2018 10:04

My mum didn't show til she was 6 months.... I have a small increase in belly size (got a flabby tummy anyway) and I'm 20 weeks.

Liz3891 · 08/08/2018 10:14

I had almost nothing at 20 weeks. It sort of just popped around 22 weeks.

With my first I remember going to my 20 week scan in my size 8 skinny jeans. No hint of a bump!
19 weeks with baby number 3 now and have been in maternity clothes for 10 weeks...

It's normal for a first baby. I didn't tell anyone we were expecting until about 24 weeks and no one had spotted I was pregnant due to no obvious bump at that point.

Fluffyangelwings · 09/08/2018 07:22

Thank you all, made me feel much better! :)

I think there is a wide range of normal. With our first babies (born two days apart) one of my friends was really flat at 20 weeks, whereas I looked huge and ridiculously ready to pop. Although I stayed a bit bigger throughout we ended up a fairly similar size by about 35 weeks - my bump just shot out early hers a bit later. Both babies were healthy and full term, hers was just over 7lb, mine was 9 and a half which I think explained the later difference in bump size. That and my friend is taller - I am very short so bump had nowhere to go but out...

I have 2 IVF babies and know how worrying it can be when you’re finally pregnant and hoping everything will be ok!

With my first 2 I only ever looked 6 months pregnant even when full term and didn’t have a bump until around 24w-28w.

I’m now 24w with no. 3 and only told work last week as it wasn’t obvious.

I find my babies tend to have growth spurts so my tummy stays the same for weeks then suddenly grows. According to my Dr some mums gain weight week on week whereas others in fits and starts. I didn’t gain any weight at all in the first 22w then put on 3kg in 4 weeks. All completely in the range of normal apparently.

Good luck with your scan!

I would say you are lucky! I am 19+3 and caught sight of my reflection this morning...I look like a dart player from the 1980s!!

SoyDora · 09/08/2018 09:19

Liverbird77 yesterday I was asked (by a stranger) how long I had left as I look ‘ready to pop’. I’m 19+6!

Fluffyangelwings · 16/08/2018 16:24

Just to update that I had my 20 week scan today and everything is perfect and baby is measuring absolutely fine so I was worrying about nothing! Can try and chill out now and enjoy the next few months...phew :) Thanks all X
