Worries before 12 wk scan

As the title says......

I'm due to go to my 12 week scan today but I've hardly slept all night with worry!

Has anyone else experienced this?!

Apart from the BFPs and sore boobs I've had absolutely no symptoms at all. My waist line is getting a little bigger but unsure if it's all in my head as I've stopped going the gym.

I don't know why but I'm just terrified to go today and see nothing there 🙁 xxx

I think it’s conpletely normal to feel like this which is why so many pay for an early scan. If you’ve had no pain or bleeding chances are everything will be fine. Good luck and let us know! Flowers

I was in your position a few weeks ago and I know exactly how you are feeling, I felt as though they were going to say ‘nope your not even pregnant’ 🙈 but you are and as soon as you see the scan of your
Gorgeous baby wiggling around all of your worries will melt away I promise! Try and not worry up until then, lots of hugs xxxx

Had my 12 week scan yesterday and had exactly the same fears, but all good, and baby moving around so much could hardly get measurements. Good luck, enjoy seeing little one 😊

Aww thanks @PurpleFlower1983 @Bunintheoven88 @clairehr

Glad to know I'm not the only one feeling this way 💕

it's gonna be such a long wait until the afternoon xx

Totally normal! When I got to my 12wk scan I thought "what if there's nothing there?...what if the test was wrong?!" But there she was. Amazing!

secretnames · 08/08/2018 08:55

completely normal but don't forget to enjoy it

Elllicam · 08/08/2018 08:57

I didn’t have many symptoms at all before 12 weeks with any of my pregnancies and all 4 have been fine. I get more symptoms in the second trimester. I hope you have a lovely scan.

HerSymphonyAndSong · 08/08/2018 08:59

I barely slept before any of my scans, it’s very normal. Chances are very high that all will be normal. Be prepared though that I found weeks 12-20 between the two scans quite hard as I started to feel better but couldn’t feel the baby moving yet and began to be convinced that all was going wrong! But it was fine. I didn’t pay for any extra scans but can understand why some do

Shootingstar2018 · 08/08/2018 09:00

@babyhopeful2018 I know exactly how you feel! My scan is at 13:30 today and I am excited, nervous, scared.

Also wondering how I am going to drink a pint of water and not pee for an hour as I feel like I have permanently moved my office to the toilet at work!

Hope the morning passes quickly for both of us!

Loulabelle25 · 08/08/2018 09:10

I’ve had a fairly symptomless pregnancy. If I didn’t have melon boobs and a very tight 35 weeks pregnant belly I still wouldn’t really know I was pregnant.

However, I did suffer with awful anxiety up until around 17/18 weeks when I started feeling the baby. I had a private scan at 7 weeks and my dating scan at 13 and quite frankly I was a nightmare before both as I was so worrried about what the scans would find. My fears were completely unfounded. Everything was absolutely fine. I think unfortunately anxiety in early pregnancy is very common especially as it’s common not to feel particularly pregnant at the time.

SweetheartNeckline · 08/08/2018 09:17

I've had 3 children and am ten weeks pregnant now. Totally normal to be anxious. It's a medical appontment after all.

I found it useful to prepare as well as I could on a practical level so checking the route to the hospital / best car park to use, leaving in plenty of time, having plenty of change, my notes, a bottle of water and making sure I wore a top and trousers rather than a dress. These are the things you can control so control them and it might help you through the next few hours.

babyhopeful2018 · 08/08/2018 09:49

@Shootingstar2018 my appointment is the exact same time!! Good luck and enjoy today 💕

Yes I don't know how I'm gonna hold out for an hour either!! I'm constantly at the loo these days.

Thanks everyone you have put my mind at ease for the next few hours.... come lunch I'll be a nervous wreck again no doubt!!xx

Hey ladies hope you both got kn okay :) x

AliceRR · 08/08/2018 14:56

I think this must be normal as lots of us feel this way. I am 13+2 and haven’t had my first scan yet but so worried something might not be right even though I have no reason to think anything is wrong. Good luck - hope all goes well

babyhopeful2018 · 08/08/2018 15:03

Relieved to say everything was perfect at the scan!!

One healthy baby at 13wks 3 days

Now off for a nap since I hardly slept last night xx

Brilliant news! Congratulations! Xx

Shootingstar2018 · 09/08/2018 08:57

@babyhopeful2018 so glad to hear all went well yesterday at the scan Smile

My little star is much earlier than predicted (MW had been estimating since I hadn't had a period to date by), 8 weeks 5 days but they said everything looked fine so far and seeing the flickering heart beat was amazing! Cant wait for the next scan now!
