When do you get your date for scheduled C-section?

At what point in your pregnancy do you get told your date for your C-section? I'm 25 weeks and have been told that they'll sort out a date later, but I'm wondering when later is.

Thanks!

I was about 36 weeks when I got given an actual date.

boomie · 02/06/2007 09:20

With DD1, I got the date a few days before but it was all a bit last minute!! With DD2, I was about 37 weeks. Good Luck

VerySensibleKbear · 02/06/2007 09:21

36 weeks for me

Stylecouncil · 02/06/2007 09:22

I got mine the day before. My obs was going to let me try for a VBAC but then things changed so next thing I hear him saying is "Well be in tomorrow for 7 fasting" cue jaw hitting floor.

36/37 weeks?! Oh no, I was really hoping to get the date before that! My parents are on holiday around the time and my mum wants to know if she needs to fly home early... oh well, can't be helped I suppose!

your section might will be done around 39 weeks, i think they prefer to do them later , as it is better for the baby......

zookeeper · 02/06/2007 09:32

my last two were done at 38 weeks on the dot

Azure · 02/06/2007 09:45

36/7 weeks for me - c-section at 39 weeks exactly.

eidsvold · 02/06/2007 09:48

for me it was supposed to be around 36 weeks but they did it at the 30 week consultants visit. Had mine on the dot of 39 weeks.

with dd2 I was already overdue and so we decided it then.

Just ask earlier. I did at my 30 week consultant appt as I had to organise care for my dds - and dd1 has special needs so it was a praticular person who had the day off to look after her and wanted to give them plenty of notice.

Got given my date at 37 weeks and will be 39+1 for the actual op. (This coming Tuesday - yay!)
I must admit I was very impatient to get the date so I knew where I was working. Ask them to sort it earlier, if your parents are going to be a vital part of your support network when you are home then you have a good reason for needing to know sooner...

Tinkjon · 03/06/2007 09:09

My date is going to be between 38 and 39 weeks, apparently, but I will ask to find out sooner than usual, because of childcare issues - good idea people, thanks! I was surprised when they said it could be 38 weeks, as I'd always heard 39 was better. I'm a bit in 2 minds about it because I already think I'm almost a week behind the date they gave me on the scan, so I'm reluctant to accept a 38 week date in case it's really a 37 week one. But on the other hand I have an utter dread of going into labour before my section date, so the earlier the better from that respect! Oh well, I will talk to the consultant about it and see what he says.

39 weekson the dot for me also - think it is pretty standard if no medical issues require it sooner.

I was told the actual date at 20 weeks but only because I pushed for it - normally they tell you/book you in at 36 weeks at our hospital.

LilRedWG · 04/06/2007 16:20

I was about 30 weeks IIRC. DD delivered at 38 weeks.

fifisworld · 04/06/2007 17:39

Im due on 17th december and got a letter last week from the hospital with an appointment to see consultant for 26th Novemeber which will make me 37 weeks and im hoping to get a date for 8th dec as thats when my dad breaks up from work so he can have ds for the night before and while we are in hospital until dp goes home.
But i thought that that was really early for me to have an appointmnet through already, although i did mention to mw at booking in appointmnet that i wanted to opt for cs.

I got my date at 36 weeks. I even got them to change it slightly as I thought they were leaving it too late!
