Loosing Colostrum

Ok, over on the november thread there are a few of us neurotic pregnant women wondering if our leaky boobs are leaking colostrum, and if so will there be any left for when the baby arrives? I know it seems quite common to be leaking but is it a good or a bad thing? Does anyone have any idea?

Flossam, I leaked quite a bit with my first pregnancy and she still had lots of the good stuff I'm sure! I am 22 weeks myself and have just started seeing a bit of fluid. I think it's all very normal.

I started leaking at about 14 weeks, MW said it was nothing to worry about. It's tailed off somewhat now (I'm 31 weeks) but never got very heavy, just had to wear nursing pads for a while.

Colostrum isn't something there is a finite amount of. It's something your body makes to order, like tears. You can't 'use it up'. It starts being made by your body at around 14 weeks, so it's not a good thing or a bad thing, it's just a thing!
