Anyone else expecting twins in late 2018/early 2019?

We've found out that we are expecting DCDA twins due in mid Feb! Was a bit of a shock as we already have 2 DC who are 3.5yrs & 11m! All being well we'll have 3 under 17m! 😱

Just wondered if anyone else is expecting twins around the same time & fancied a thread to support each other?

So far I've found this pregnancy much harder than my previous 2, the exhaustion & morning sickness has been awful & I've had a couple of bleeds luckily scans at the epu have shown everything is fine but they are certainly keeping me on my toes already!

I am! January but it’ll be demecber because I’m having a cesarean.

Daisy852 · 07/08/2018 13:26

Due MCDA twins in late Jan here, fully expecting them to arrive sometime around Christmas as it’s routine to induce at 36 weeks with mcda. We also have an older 2 1/2 year old so going to have my hands full!!
Feel like my sickness is finally easing, although I’m lucky and didn’t get it too badly. Are you going to find out what gender you’re havibg?

Lipsticktraces · 07/08/2018 13:29

I’m due MCDA twins next Thursday. I’m having a c section at 34 weeks due to reduced blood flow to one of the babies placentas.

They will be my first babiesSmile

MrsY87 · 07/08/2018 14:22

Hi! Everyone! Good to see some others also expecting twins!

@MrSpock are these your first?

@Daisy852 was it quite a shock you were expecting twins when you already have an older one? It certainly was for us! It's started to sink in now but it's the logistics that I'm struggling to get my head around, what car? What pram? Etc etc yes think we are going to find out gender, my husband said twins were surprise enough, what about you?

@Lipsticktraces good luck with your c section next week! I had a section with my 1st and my recovery was good, actually better than after my vaginal birth with my 2nd so hope it's good for you too. Do you know what you're having?

No these are my second and third, although I’ve had losses in between. DS1 will be three when they’re here.

Lipsticktraces · 07/08/2018 17:28

Thank you @MrsY87Smile

I had been in a real dilemma over whether to go for section or induction/epidural, so it’s almost a relief to have the decision taken out of my hands. Obviously I wish it wasn’t so early thoughSad

No idea what we are having. I wanted it to be a surprise. Can’t wait to find out!

Daisy852 · 07/08/2018 18:53

Yes a huge shock!! Had an early private scan because I had a mmc last year and was expecting the worst again. Never expected the sonographer to say ‘I think I can see two!!’ Initially I was almost in tears trying to figure out how i’ll cope. Partner works away a lot and we have no family nearby so I’m on my own a lot of the time.
Now I’ve got used to the idea I’m much more excited. Twins are pretty special!! 😄
Trying not to stress too much about the car and pram stuff. I have a small estate, so plenty of boot space, and I’m going to start with one baby in the front seat with airbags deactivated as most of the time it will just be me. If we have a family day out one of us will have to squeeze between the seats in the back!!
Even though I have a good job, childcare for 3 is going to cost more than I earn so a new car is out of the question until the eldest starts school.
We’re both keen on keeping gender a surprise, but I have to have fortnightly scans so we might end up finding out by accident!!
Now just hunting down every possible bargain on eBay!! I thought we wouldn’t need to buy anything new for No2, but now it’s No.s 2 & 3 it’s suddenly got a whole lot more expensive!!

Daisy852 · 07/08/2018 18:58

Good luck next week Lipstick!! I know a few people who have had 34 weekers and they’ve been absolutely fine and home in s few days!! I’ve heard an ELCS is a much more relaxed experience too.
Have you finished work for mat leave already or did you have to leave suddenly?!

MrSpock · 07/08/2018 18:58

Daisy that’s similar to me! I had early scans because of previous losses and was surprised when they found two! Twin two didn’t have a hb at first so I fully expected to lose her, however I was pleasantly surprised to see at the next scan both twins were okay.

I wasn’t planning on buying any extra stuff either but now we are going to have to Grin

MrsY87 · 08/08/2018 05:55

That's similar to me too, we went for an early private scan as I had a few mcs between my DD and DS and never expected them to say there are two! It is pretty special to have twins isn't it, I mean everyone has a baby but not everyone has twins!

We definitely need a new car as we can't fit 6 of us in ours, if it had only been 1 we would have done similar with one of us in the back.

My husband works long hours so it's just me Monday - Friday but I'm very lucky to have my mum close by to help out too. Are you planning on putting your older one in childcare at all whilst your on mat leave? I'm trying to decide what to do as I'm not sure I'll cope having 4 at home all day every day but it's just so expensive. Luckily DD gets her free hours so that's something. Will you be able to make use of those for your older one? The cost of childcare for 3 is going to be ridiculous!

I know what you mean I didn't expect to have to buy anything either and now it's like we have to start over, luckily some of our friends and family have offered us bits like cotbeds, car seats etc so hopefully that will help keep the cost down!

@MrSpock we have a 3yr gap between DD and DS and it's great as she is old enough to understand and help with stuff so hopefully your DS can be your little helper too!

You are all so lucky! My twins are 14m old and although life is busy, they are so much fun!

Missn0nmum · 08/08/2018 09:10

Heya,

I'm 24 weeks with twin boys due early November to be induced at 37 weeks. (First pregnancy and I'm 24 years old). I'm so used to the idea of having twins now, I wouldn't have it any other way.

But, my goodness, the health problems and ailments I've had.. The list keeps growing. Anyone else having health problems associated with twin pregnancy?

I'm finding it so nice to find support from other twins mums expecting. It's all very well and good speaking to mums who have already had twins, but nothing quite like speaking to someone who is currently going through this process.

I'm due in March and feel like utter crap too.

pushit · 14/08/2018 13:57

I've just found out I'm having twins. I'm 12 weeks and totally freaked out. In utter shock

MrsY87 · 14/08/2018 14:09

@pushit congratulations!! It's a huge shock isn't it?! We found out at 7w and I'm now 13w and it's still sinking in, I find myself saying to DH can you believe we are having twins almost daily! Do you have any other children already? How is your DH taking it? I think mine is still in utter shock too!

@Missn0nmum so far I've definitely had more problems than with my Singleton pregnancies..much worse sickness & first trimester bleeding. Do you know what you are having?

@C0nfusedc0mxx83xx congratulations as well! How many weeks are you now? I'm starting to feel a bit better now at 13w but still totally exhausted!

Hi. 15 weeks here with MCDA twins. I also have pre-existing type 2 diabetes so although official EDD is 4th Feb by consultant said I will likely deliver at 35 weeks (31st Dec) or sooner if complications arise. I will be having scans every other week from next week to monitor as well.

Such a surprise but such a blessing & I wouldn't change it for the world.

Hope everyone is coping well xx

pushit · 21/08/2018 09:13

How is everyone doing? 13 weeks and still feel so sick 😫

MrsY87 · 21/08/2018 09:31

Still feeling sick here too 🤢 it's getting better but if I have a bad nights sleep it's awful. I'm 14+4 so was really hoping it would be gone by now! I've also started to get awful headaches but have found a can of coke helps with that!

OP posts:
CatMama7 · 21/08/2018 09:53

I'm into 16th week & sickness is far less frequent you'll be pleased to hear. I am still getting the headaches though & currently signed off work which is not so good.

pushit · 21/08/2018 14:42

Why are you signed @CatMama7?

CatMama7 · 21/08/2018 16:55

@pushit anxiety/stress as they think this is causing the daily migraines. I have a history of anxiety/depression but have been doing really great. Hopefully the break will help. My pregnancy is v high risk which doesn't help my anxiety either.
