Consultant Lead - late appointment

Hi everyone!

Im currently 14 weeks pregnant and looking for a little advice.

When I found out I was pregnant, the midwife told me I would be consultant lead for this pregnancy due to complications I had with my little boy. As a brief background, I had a completely textbook pregnancy and 28 hour labour. I ended up having a ventouse delivery, however my little boy got stuck on the way out, had to be revived and spent 2 weeks in special care. He was 11lb 5oz born and it was thought this was the likely cause of him getting stuck. I ended up having an episiotomy, a very bad infection, and took nearly a year to recover

Fast forward 2 years, and I cannot bear the thought of another labour like that and the worry or distress if this happens again. Especially as no one picked up just how big my little boy was last time. On this basis I told the midwife at my 12 week scan that I would like to request a CSection. Having spoken to a few others, i expected to recieve a letter to see the consultant.

I recieved a letter today for my first appointment, 6 days before my due date!! I have called them and the booking centre spoke with a midwife who agreed to give me an appointment for 37 weeks. This feels too late to me and I assumed I would be given a decision before then.

Has anyone else had this experience of an appointment so late into the pregnancy?

Thanks in advance xx

A friend of mine had a difficult first birth so around 34 weeks requested a c section. 2ish weeks for the doctors to make the decision. She was given a yes at 37ish and the baby was delivered by c section at 39 weeks. So I don't think it matters if it's late as long as they agree within a couple of weeks of your due date?
