Worry about accuracy of scan dates!

I need some advice because I am driving myself crazy with worry.

I broke up with my partner around mid April or the week after and then slept with someone 3 weeks later.. 13th may and now I'm pregnant.

I don't have periods and I was sure it add up to the second one due to symptoms such as morning sickness starts ect. But to my surprise I went for my scan and I am 15 and a half week gone already. As i only sleep with the other guy 12 weeks ago surely that makes it impossible right?

But then i am worried that what if the sornographer was wrong and can you really tell a big difference between 12 and 15 weeks...

Without having periods and talk of all the conception dates ect and adding or subtracting two weeks I am driving craxy making sure it's right.

Could the sonographer really be that wrong? I am due mid January...

Help! I think I need some reassurance!

You'd be surprised at how much a babe grows in two weeks. Sonographer probably 95% right if not more

Scans at this stage are usually quite accurate in terms of dating as the baby is still quite small and growth is quite dramatic.

With a mid Jan due date, you will have conceived mid-late April. Do you mean you only had sex with this other man and not your ex-partner? Or were you having sex with your partner up to the breakup?

Bear in mind that symptoms often don't start right away. Many women don't get morning sickness until 6+ weeks or even later, so they aren't really reliable for dating purposes.

I was having sex with my partner up until the break up which to what I remember must be around 20th April approx and then slept with the other guy on 13th may.

Will my 20 week scan give any more indication or should I trust my scan weeks?.

I just don't want to tell the wrong person!

Scans have a dating accuracy to approx 5 day’s. The Dating scan timeframe is crucial to get right due to screening tests which need to be done at specific time frame.. so in other words the scan date will be correct.

The 20 week scan is less accurate than earlier scans because later on fetal growth rate varies. As a PP pointed out your dating scan is highly likely to be very accurate and from that you will be able to work out the likely father.

Thank you all for your advice. 😊
