Basically im worried I wont show :(

Its really getting to me. One of the girls at work said she had a friend my size who showed, but I cant help but worry.

All i want is a bump :(
Im 13+4 so know its still early days but my scan went okay and theres definatly a baby in there!
Was so releived to her the midwife say "Well your definatly pregnant" Nice to have it confirmed! Grin

Does anyone have experience with being plus size and pregnant? (Im size 22/24 and 5ft2)

I am a size 18/20 and I was worried about the same thing!

But from about 20 weeks (I think roughly?) I definitely had an obvious baby bump. Looked better in clothes as I had a saggy pouch underneath (I think people refer to it as a B bump?)

BounceAndJump · 04/08/2018 18:53

I'd definitely think you will! Your stomach looks quite flat currently so a pregnancy bump would be obviously that, I definitely wouldn't have guessed you were a size 22/24.

Jimpix · 04/08/2018 19:02

I was a 20 and a 22-24 in my two pregnancies. I definitely showed later and didn’t get an obvious bump until about 28 week from 30+ weeks. My bump wasn’t nice and round either, it was like a number 3, it you know what I mean?!

LumiereLennie · 04/08/2018 19:04

I was the same sort of size and had exactly the same fear - at about 20 weeks I had a clear ‘baby bump’ which I made sure to emphasis with twee preggo tops so no mistakes could be made! By 30 weeks it was utterly obvious without the tops!

patphelan · 04/08/2018 19:08

I was about a size 20 during both of my pregnancies and I showed from about 20 weeks onwards. You definitely don't look a size 22/24.

SazCat · 04/08/2018 19:08

I agree with Lumiere, what you wear makes a big difference. I actually found that clingier tops made my bump look rounder than floaty ones (they just made me look fatter!!)

I've just dug this photo out, was around 24 weeks here I think. I think my belly's actually bigger now, just wobblier Shock

Shortie, I was a 22/24 when pregnant with Dd2 and I definitely showed!

I didn’t show until around 18 weeks with my first pregnancy, I was still in normal clothes. It just depends on your body.

Tonicwaterandgin · 04/08/2018 19:11

I'm 5'3" and was size 20/22 when pregnant. A lot of people didn't notice my bump til about 32-34 weeks although it was obvious to anyone who knew me from about 24 weeks. I noticed my shape changing from around 16 weeks but just that belly was firmer and less wobbly really.

Astrid2 · 04/08/2018 19:21

Yes! I have a huge belly and was very noticeable pregnant from 20 weeks. My bump was really high so stick out a lot. Did have the fatty pouch low down but in the right clothes, I was all bump!

Rarfy · 04/08/2018 19:25

Im a 16 probs more 18 lately and im starting to show already at 14+4. It is my 4th pregnancy so dont know if that makes a difference but i think anyone who knew me saw me now would definitely be giving me a double look. Maybe not so much people that dont know me.

Depends what you wear as well. I think maternity clothes accentuate a bump so might be worth a treat?

When im naked it doesnt look as bumpy because as someone else said i have a pouch underneath.

Kraggle · 04/08/2018 19:33

Red top is me at 35 weeks, not particularly pregnant looking, black top is me at 37+4.

I’m a size 20 normally and have what I’d call a B belly where it dips in the middle. Under clothes I could make it look quite round but otherwise I just looked bigger but my belly was firm not just wobbly.

Kool4katz · 04/08/2018 19:33

I look 6 months pregnant all the time but it's just my huge hernia lump. Confused

SequinsOnEverything · 04/08/2018 19:45

I have a large B belly and was size 16/18 before both pregnancies. To be honest I never got a proper bump with either one.

If I wore a clingy top I would have just looked extra fat, as it was still a B belly. I wore tops gathered under the bust, but I'm sure some people just thought I'd put on weight. I picked up several packages from my ndn in the weeks before giving birth and when she saw me with the baby she said she didn't realise I was pregnant.😢

NoWittyNamesAvailable · 04/08/2018 19:47

I was a size 20-22and i showed. This was around 28 weeks

Cachailleacha · 04/08/2018 20:03

I was a size 8 and didn't show in regular clothes until 23 weeks. I didn't wear clingy maternity clothes and I'm average height. So based on this thread I'm not sure if size makes so much of a difference.

CocoDeMoll · 04/08/2018 20:07

You look kind of curvey big (compliment!). I bet you’ll have a lovely bump.

Faster · 04/08/2018 20:11

This is me at 30ish weeks

Faster · 04/08/2018 20:11

Oh and I’m an 18/20

AsteroidAsterix · 04/08/2018 20:12

The B shape bump isn't dependant on size either. I had one with both pregnancies and was vastly different sizes. Definitely agree that tighter clothes helped shape it better.
Congratulations. You will look lovely.

captainshortie · 05/08/2018 10:02

Thanks ladies! Feel better now :) nothing i want more in the world than a "normal" bump and to see/feel loads of movements, i know itll be slightly more difficult because of my size, but taking each miracle as it comes :)

LumiereLennie · 05/08/2018 12:08

‘Normal’ is a relative term - and Despite being ‘big’, I felt LOTS of movement which it turned out was WAAAAAAAY more important to me than the look - I only catch sight of myself a few times a day, whereas he kicked constantly and reminded me he was in there!

1Wanda1 · 05/08/2018 12:11

I'm 14 weeks and a size 12 and I'm not showing at all, so I wouldn't worry just yet. In my previous pregnancies I was smaller and didn't show till 20 weeks (first child) and 18 weeks (second child). Lots of people don't show really till about 5-6 months!

Izzyw1983 · 06/08/2018 20:52

I'm a size 20-22... I wondered the same until last week and all of a sudden I have a small round bump....although I have what's called a B belly..... don't worry xx

Izzyw1983 · 06/08/2018 20:53

Sorry should have added I'm 19 +3
