Should I be worried?

Hi,
Since I got up this morning there has been a tiny bit of blood when I wipe. Well it’s not even blood, my discharge is brownish/pinkish and creamy but different to what it has been and I’ve been having some cramping (but have had cramps throughout my pregnancy). I am 7 weeks today. Is this something I should be worried about? It’s my first pregnancy so can’t compare it to anything.

I think some people actually bleed a lot throughout pregnancy but I'd call your midwives if you have any concerns and get seen to Just to be on the safe side Smile

Thanks. It’s only happened once when I wipe, and I don’t know if part of me is convincing myself I’ve got cramps (or whether my stomach is starting to hurt because I’m panicking myself that much!). I’ve put a pantyliner in so I can monitor it but if it worsens I think I’m going to ring 111 for advice

111 is a good ideaSmile

Id go to EPAU if you can, they will take your bloods today and in a few days time and compare them.
If it helps ive had a miscarrriage before and the blood started very light bright red and then got worse until it clotted and it lasted 5 days. One tiny bit could be normal

Thanks everyone. I was worried because my boobs weren’t hurting when I woke up but they are aching again now. I’ve phoned 111 and they’ve told me to monitor it for next couple of hours and if it worsens then ring them back so they can hopefully get me sent today. Just wiped again and nothing, nothing in pantyliner either so hoping this is a positive sign. If it was a miscarriage would I definitely know about it? Does anyone know how quickly symptoms tend to progress? Sorry for all the questions. I’m just really anxious

I lost a small brown clot in week 6 and there was a little brown spotting when I wiped. The midwife wasn’t concerned at all when I had my appointment and baby was fine when I had my early scan. Good luck Flowers

Hi Hun.
I think some women do just have little spotting episodes during pregnancy. I know I do.
I had it with my first pregnancy which unfortunately did end it miscarriage but it was consistent light spotting and within a few days turned stringy and then red.
Ive also had it with this pregnancy and I’m now nearly 20 weeks. I had consistent light brown spotting for 2 weeks between weeks 5 and 7. Never red blood though.
And then nothing until 11 weeks when it was one very light episode of light brown spotting in a morning. And then the same happened again at 16 weeks.
Each time I’ve been checked out and baby is (touch wood) still looking good. I’ve got my 20 week Scan on Thursday.
So it doesn’t always mean bad news. You could have an irritated cervix or a hard bowel movement. There are so many blood vessels down there and with the extra blood flow and pressure, it’s just one of those things. If you’ve had no more since that one bit, then I’m sure everything is ok. I really hope it is. Wishing you all the best x x x

@Magicalcreatures thank you! And thanks for sharing your experiences with me, it’s reassuring. Yes when I noticed the blood/mucus it was after a bowel movement, I wouldn’t say it was a strained one (sorry if TMI!) but I guess that could have caused it. It was a sort of pinky tanned coloured mucus, definitely not red blood. Only had that twice when wiping today, kept a pantyliner in and there’s been nothing on the pantyliner. Now I have no discharge at all when wiping so my fingers are crossed that all is ok. I have had some cramping, but tbh I’ve had cramps all the way through and the midwife wasn’t concerned about that at my booking appointment.
My only other concern is that id been nauseous for the last week and a half, today I haven’t felt very nauseous or tired at all which was worrying. My boobs are still very sore though and still got a very heightened sense of smell so my symptoms haven’t totally disappeared. I’m praying all is ok xx

I hope what I said can reassure you in some way. I asked exactly the same thing and I had so many responses from people saying that light brown blood was very common and not normally anything to worry about.
Also, I’ve had cramping and twinges that come and go throughout my entire pregnancy.
And someone explained to me and a few others that symptoms can come and go because your body can adjust to the pregnancy hormones as they go up, and then when you have another surge, it can bring the symptoms on strongly again. This happens continuously through the first trimester.
I did notice with my miscarriage, that by 6 weeks my boobs had stopped hurting completely and the soreness never returned. X
