Pregnant with ileostomy?

Anyone pregnant or has been pregnant with an ileostomy? I'm TTC and not really sure how it all works with a stoma. I know it kind of grows/expands as your stomach does which might make it change shape etc. How can you get a good ultrasound picture if the sonographer cant scan over a big part of your stomach?

This might be a question that you should put to your surgeon/gastroenterologist/stoma nurse before getting pregnant...

The scans shouldn't be too much of an issue as the standard NHS scans are done when the baby is still pretty small (just above your pubic bone for the 12 week one, up to about belly button level for the 20 week one). Later growth scans obviously need to cover a slightly bigger area but as they're usually only looking at a few specific measurements I'd expect they can work around your stoma.

I'd be more concerned about the effect of an expanding uterus on any scar tissue inside your abdomen and what happens if it starts compressing/putting tension on your stoma.

I've already spoken to my stoma nurses and surgeon and got the green light to conceive. My surgery was keyhole, so should be minimal scarring inside me. Just wanted some personal experiences of people who are going through it!
