I applied for maternity allowance early June because my employer said that I couldn’t have SMP because I hadn’t earnt enough (I checked online and I did so quite confused). I got a text on June 28th saying it would take 24 days to make a decision but I still haven’t had anything back, no letter, call, no money in the bank etc, but they wouldn’t tell me over the phone (I assumed it was because of GDPR but now I don’t know and I’ve only got £100 left).
My twins are going to be delivered in the next week and a half so I’m obviously quite stressed as OH’s wage isn’t enough for all of our bills and two babies.
Has anybody else applied recently? How long did it take for them to contact you or give you the payment?
I’ve now lost my job as well because my contract ended! So that just makes things a lot worse.
I guess we could apply for benefits if we need to but I’d been working for them for a year and was getting £650 a month so surely I’m entitled to something?
I’m an absolute stress head right now and really don’t want it to bring on labour!
