Are braxton hicks more common in second pregnancy?

I am currently 26 weeks into my second pregnancy (last one was 4+ years ago so memory might not be as great for that period as it cold be). For the last month I have been having what I assumed are braxton hicks (I feel my abdomen tense up for up to a minute. It isn't really painful I am just away of it).

I don't recall ever really having them when I was pregnant with my son and definitely not this regularly (maybe one a day). So do you get them more in second/third etc pregnancies?

I'm interested to hear responses to this as I'm also experiencing regular BH contractions with this pregnancy and don't remember having any with my first.

I’d be interested to know too. 35 weeks at the moment and I got what I assume was BH from about 25 weeks. Very low level cramps and rock solid bump. I have a much higher, wider bump this time too.

I’m on my fourth pregnancy and don’t recall them happening as early as this before, started having them at 22 weeks. I’ve read it’s normal to have them any time from 20 weeks so I’m not overly concerned.

2nd pregnancy here, 24+1 and the same. Didn't have any I remember with DS, but am quite wary of them as I'm having a few a day atm

Same, definitely having more with second pregnancy. But could that just be because I'm running after my first dc in hot weather?

Booboostwo · 03/08/2018 18:23

Much stronger and much earlier with my second pregnancy. They started at 7 weeks when I was having sex. The doctor was not concerned and I did not have any complications but it was disconcerting. By 38 weeks they were massive, you could see the whole tummy tighten into two ridges and I had to stand still and wait for them to pass.

Does anyone find the Braxton hicks sometimes make you suddenly need the loo?

justtowarm · 05/08/2018 10:08

So so so much stronger this time, I'm 30 weeks now and I get short of breath (think the swash my lungs) and hot flushes with them, and need the loo sometimes. Midwife says apparently it's all normal but they were never this strong with my first :)

Chocolatecoffeeaddict · 05/08/2018 10:12

I'd had them in my third and fourth pregnancies really strong to the point I felt I would go into premature labour. I didn't, but they were so painful and worrying. The midwife said its because I've had lots of pregnancies, everything is a bit more slack.

Bowlofbabelfish · 05/08/2018 12:47

Never had them. Well never felt them, I know you can have them and not realise.
Not a single one in first pregnancy and not a single one so far in this. 37 weeks and I’ve never had a contraction ever (had to have a section for first.)

None in first two pregnancies, terrible in third. Kept thinking I was in labour every night for weeks. Joy!
