I'm pregnant for the first time, 7 weeks... and everything is very new. I still haven't seen any midwives, but they're supposed to contact me this week. Also, my parents live abroad.
I'll be seeing my parents next week in Portugal for holidays and Idk if I should just tell them because obviously I wanna tell them personally and that won't be able to happen until early October if I don't tell them now.
What do you think I should do? I am really lost!
Thank you

Congratulations! I would tell them! I told DM the day after I found out and MIL straight after and I was 5 weeks pregnant.

Would you tell them if you had a miscarriage? If yes, then there's no reason not to tell them now, as the reason most people wait until 12 weeks to announce is to get out of the risky first trimester and have their first scan to check everything's okay. I told my family and close friends early every time, as I would have needed their support had I had a MC.

We told ours at 7/8 weeks my theory was that if something was to happen they'd be a good support system to us too. As well as it being very exciting news!!!

We told my parents this week at 10 weeks as my dad is going abroad for work next week until October.

I didn't want them to be the last to know.

I’d tell anyone you would tell/want support from if you had a miscarriage.

Miscarriage is not a shameful thing so I completely reject the rationale of keeping things private until after the 12 week scam.

Fightthebear · 07/08/2018 20:08

And congratulations by the way!

Tell anyone you would tell if you had a miscarriage.

We didn't tell in laws until 14 weeks and I still haven't told my family. I'll be 16 weeks when I see her, might tell her then, might not, haven't decided yet.
